I'm Bill Marcioni,
And my favorite practice is a technique called practical prayer.
It's also referred to sometimes as spiritual mind treatment.
It's an affirmative prayer technique that goes beyond simple affirmations and makes them into a spiritual practice.
Now,
A lot of people grow up with a prayer being a plea,
A begging done to an outside God who's going to say yes or no or maybe or later.
And what we actually understand about the nature of the universe is that there is one infinite creative power,
One divine presence,
One love that has been sharing itself since the beginning of time.
And it doesn't make any difference what our creation story is.
They all wind up saying the same thing.
Some people like the scripture,
In the beginning there was darkness and void,
And God said let there be light.
And in another completely non-spiritual version,
The one the scientists like to talk about,
Is the Big Bang.
In the beginning there was a singularity,
And for some reason it exploded into a huge amount of light.
And that light has been expanding and unfolding and revealing itself as all of its creation in the 14.
2 billion years ever since.
The fact that we can all trace our lineage back to that one,
And it doesn't matter which creation story we believe in,
We can all trace ourselves back to that one.
We can identify that there is nothing other than that one divine essence,
That one light,
That one love,
That has been revealing and unfolding and sharing itself since the very beginning of time.
And since that's all there is,
That's what I am,
That's what you are,
That's what everything is.
And we are participating in that same creative process.
It didn't happen once and then stop.
It continues to unfold.
So practical prayer is a technique where we connect ourselves,
Align ourselves with the awareness that that one infinite creative power that creates everything has created us.
And that we're creating our next experience according to our beliefs.
Then,
When we speak our affirmation,
We are activating the creative law.
You're activating the law of attraction,
Which you might have heard about,
Or the law of correspondence,
Or whatever the creative process is that we're calling upon at the time,
And inviting that to co-create this next experience with us.
And the wonderful thing is,
Unlike that God in the sky that might say no,
Might say yes,
Might say maybe,
Might say later.
It always says yes.
It always says yes.
Our life is an outpicturing of our beliefs.
It is done unto you as you believe.
And practical prayer is a way to clear out all the underbrush and allow that bright light of truth to shine in your life and the lives of those around you.
That's why it's my favorite.
