Five Acre Wood Fables,
Casey Caterpillar by R.
M.
Bodie.
Casey Caterpillar had a dream that she would one day take flight.
She dreamt she was floating through the air with such joy and delight.
Casey Caterpillar awoke with a whole new view on things.
She believed that she would one day have her own set of flapping wings.
Casey Caterpillar was excited to share her vision with her friends Anthony Ant and Sally Slug.
Anthony Ant laughed and pointed out to Casey that she's just a crawling caterpillar,
Not some flying bug.
Sally the Slug added a laugh at Casey Caterpillar's expense,
Suggesting to Casey that caterpillars simply do not fly.
That's just common sense.
Casey the Caterpillar remained hopeful and undeterred.
She believed that one day she would take to the air like a bee or a bird.
Casey Caterpillar went on with her daily routine.
She ate everything in sight that was leafy and green.
Casey Caterpillar was feeling extra hungry today as it seems.
She thought perhaps all these nutritious leaves will fuel her dreams.
Casey Caterpillar found a most excellent resting spot on a tree branch in the shade.
She prepared a shiny silk chrysalis to promote a powerful sleep upgrade.
Casey the Caterpillar slept and slept for days.
About two weeks passed in this metamorphic phase.
The day had finally arrived when Casey began to emerge from her protective shell.
She was confident and had faith that she would fly well.
Casey unfolded her new wings and shook them dry.
At last,
Casey was about to live her dreams as she flapped her wings and began to fly.
As Casey flew past Anthony Ant and Sally Slug,
They couldn't believe it was true.
Casey had told them she would fly one day and today she flew.
Casey was a caterpillar who believed in her dreams.
Her visions of flying were premonitions as it seems.
Casey is now a butterfly and spends her days in the sky.
She flaps her wings in rhythm with the breeze passing by.
Casey no longer eats leaves.
She now sips nectar from flowers.
This sugary treat fuels her fanciful flight for hours upon hours.
Thank you for listening to the five-acre wood fables,
Casey the Caterpillar or Casey the Butterfly as she is now known.
Much love,
Bodhi.
