Sound Bath Sessions 110: Bishal Maharjan
Bishal is a native Neplaese that has lived in Singapore for many years. His journey into sound healing began when a friend asked him to bring back some singing bowls from his hometown in Nepal. He had never heard about singing bowls before then. The friend liked the quality of the bowls and so he began selling bowls ever since. Over the past few years he attended classes in Nepal from his teacher, Shree Shahi, to learn more about the bowls. He enjoys hearing the stories of the people buying bowls from him both to help select the appropriate bowls, but also how they will use them to better their lives and the lives of others. We recorded in his office near the Jurong East stop. In our first recording, the usual chime/bowl/chime/tingsha format was thrown out the window which was refreshing. I sensed experimentation with odd combinations of bowls and rhythms all contained within Bishal’s calm and cool technique.
