Sound Bath Sessions 191: Siyeon Ham
Siyeon was my last recording in Korea. She met me at Wonjong Station at around 9 pm, and we recorded at her apartment in a quiet neighborhood nearby. The room we recorded in was small, so the sound is very direct and intimate. Siyeon played large quartz bowls and an ocean drum for her sessions. It was interesting listening to these recordings again in the edit. There was a progression from the first to the last recording. The first session was more active and bold, the second session was more melodic and slow, and the third session's ocean drum was just a beautiful bed of calming white noise. It was like the journey of a person during a sound bath, starting with a complicated, busy mind, then slowly calming down until you reach a much simpler state and feeling. In this recording, the thick sounds of her bowls through headphones can really fill up your head. It felt bold and complex. Much energy in this one.
