Sound Bath Sessions 261: Hitomi Kaimoto, Lumi Higashi
Hitomi and Lumi are sound bath practitioners in Kagoshima. They both shared the same enthusiasm for the project and were excited to make a recording together. The location we recorded was a 100-year-old villa all made of wood, tatami, and shoji screens overlooking a small garden with the smoking Kagoshima volcano in the distance. The morning weather was warm with cool breezes occasionally flowing through the house. Perfect location for a sound bath. Lumi and Hitomi wanted to play together for their last track. Lumi setup her bowls next to Hitomi. Four hands one person. This one was interesting to hear the journey of two people improvising. When they begin, they try to find the voice of the session. Eventually, they find it and build on it taking it in new directions. By the end, the composition is complete- two people create one piece still retaining their own identity. Nothing taken, nothing lost.
