My name is Shannon,
And I'm grateful that you're here.
Today I'll be talking about working with our angels to help us in our everyday life.
Before we move into how to call on our angels for help,
I'd first like to begin our talk with who our angels are or might be,
Do we have to believe that they're there,
And the question of free will and why it's important that we ask for help,
And certain other questions that come up along the way when asking the angelic realm for assistance.
I'd like to dive into these questions first,
And then we'll move into how to work with our angels.
To call in the energy of that which we'll be talking about today,
I'd like to start with a poem that I'd like to share with you called On Angels,
And it's by the Polish-American poet Czeslaw Miłosz,
Who won the Nobel Prize in Poetry.
Here is his poem,
On Angels.
All was taken away from you,
White dresses,
Wings,
Even existence,
Yet I believe in you,
Messengers.
There where the world is turned inside out,
A heavy fabric embroidered with stars and beasts,
You stroll inspecting the trustworthy seams.
Short is your stay here,
Now and then,
At a matinal hour,
If the sky is clear,
In a melody repeated by a bird,
Or in the smell of apples at close of day,
When the light makes the orchards magic.
They say somebody has invented you,
But to me,
This does not sound convincing,
For the humans invented themselves as well.
The voice,
No doubt it is a valid proof,
As it can belong only to radiant creatures,
Weightless and winged,
Girdled with lightning.
I have heard that voice many a time when asleep,
And what is strange,
I understood more or less an order or an appeal in an unearthly tongue.
Day,
Draw near,
Another one,
Do what you can.
So I'd like to begin our talk by starting with who our angels are or can be,
And whether you have to know who you're working with in order to ask for assistance.
We have different types of angelic help around us all the time.
We have guardian angels.
Some of our guardian angels might look like pets of ours who have passed on to the other side,
And their energy is present with us still.
We have the energy of our ancestors,
Those parents,
Grandparents,
Great-grandparents,
Those ancestors who,
Although have left the earth,
Their energy still remains their soul-self present to be with us on our journey.
We also have the protection of our spirit animals.
In the shamanic tradition,
Our animal guides can show up to either protect us,
Help us,
Or help move us through questions that we might be going through.
We also have the archangels,
And the way I work with the archangels is from a spiritual,
Reiki-based perspective of connecting with these angelic beings of light who are here to assist us on our path.
Such archangels might be Archangel Michael,
Who I like to work with when bringing truth or protection.
Archangel Gabriel for communication,
Voice,
And singing.
Archangel Raphael of the heart of commitments of working with relationships.
Archangel Ariel who works with animals,
And that energy of the earth and protection from Mother Earth.
So there are different types of angels that we can connect with,
Both guardian angels,
Ancestors,
And archangels when we call out for assistance.
So one of the questions might be,
Do I have to know which angel I'm talking to in order to ask for help for a specific thing?
My answer for that question,
Both personally,
From personal experience,
As well as professionally,
Working with clients,
That no,
You don't have to know which angel at what time to ask for specific help around different questions or things coming up in your life.
The most important idea that I'd like to share with you through this talk and through this practice is the idea of asking for help.
There are those of us who are so independent that we think we can do everything by ourselves.
However,
There comes times in our life where we might need assistance because either we can't see a direction that we're going,
Or there's a conflict coming up that we can't find a solution to,
Or even help with everyday little things that can become burdensome.
And so our angels,
Our guardians,
Are here to be of service just as we as humans can be of service to others.
Our angelic team can be of service to us as well.
The other question that might come up is this question,
Do you have to believe in angels in order for them to help you?
And again,
My answer is no.
And you might find it ironic that I can give you the advice to still ask angels for help even if there's part of you that does not believe it.
And the reason is this,
Our angels,
Our guardians,
The archangels,
They don't need for us to believe in them for them to help us.
They exist energetically on their own.
And so our belief in them does not necessitate them helping us.
Whether you believe or you're skeptical or you don't believe,
You can still call on your angels for help.
Another question that comes up is why?
Why do I need to ask the angels for their help if they see that I'm having trouble or I need help with something?
Why can't they just do it for me?
The simplest answer is this,
Is human free will.
Here on earth,
As humans,
We have free will.
We have choice.
We have the ability to take steps in our life in different directions.
We have the ability to try something,
Fail,
And make a mistake.
We have the opportunity to keep repeating things over and over as many times as we need to,
To either learn or not learn,
To grow or stay stagnant.
The angelic realm and our guardian angels,
For the most part,
Do not have a perception about our trials as humans here as negative or positive.
Part of being human is going through those joyful times and those difficult times,
Learning by struggle,
Learning by accomplishment,
Learning by things we don't want to do,
Learning by things that we want to do better.
So it's those struggles and those joyful times that help us grow as humans.
So because of that free will,
We have our own choice.
And because of that,
Our angels,
For the most part,
Aren't able to usurp our free will.
So instead,
We have the free will to ask or call out for assistance from our angels.
One of the questions that comes up around asking our angel team for help is this question,
Are there a certain number of times that I can ask for help?
And again,
The answer is no.
Although our angels,
Our guardians,
Are here for us,
They're also not at our beck and call,
Meaning they don't just listen to everything we say we want and bring it to us.
Instead,
It's more coming from the perspective of if there's something that we're needing assistance with,
We ask them to guide us in that,
They may be able to create those shifts to help us.
However,
Not all things that we ask for will we receive.
The reason being is sometimes the angelic realm,
The energy of the universe,
Knows that something may not be good for us even if we can't see it.
Another question that comes up is,
Do our angels just help us with the larger,
More difficult tasks?
And again,
My answer is no.
We can also ask for help with smaller things throughout our everyday life as well.
For example,
If I misplace my keys,
I might ask my angels to show me where I put them.
One of the ways I connect with my angelic team in a small but magical way is if I'm going to be driving somewhere where the parking might be sparse or hard to come by,
Before I leave to go there,
I might ask my parking angel to help open up a space that will allow me to park somewhere that's close to where I'm going.
That way,
Making my journey just a little bit easier.
If I'm open to receiving that,
Usually when I go to find parking,
Something opens up for me.
And again,
It's done in a way that's loving,
Appreciative,
And I'm open to receiving that help,
Even in those small little ways that make the day go easier for me.
Part of working with our angels is also,
Once we ask for the help that we're needing,
Is letting go of what the outcome is.
Sometimes we will receive help in a way that,
Oh,
We can recognize that that was something that came through.
Sometimes the help or answer might come in a different form.
So if we're not receptive to receiving the help in a different outcome,
Then we might not see it.
Another important question or feeling that comes up around working with our angels is this question,
Do I have to earn it?
Do I have to earn the help that I'm asking for?
And again,
The answer is no.
Our angelic team,
Our ancestors,
Our guardians see that we are humans doing the best we can.
Do you have to earn their love?
No,
Because it's unconditional.
They don't perceive us in the same way as we perceive ourselves living on earth.
The next part of our talk is specific to when we receive the help that we've asked for,
That it becomes our responsibility then to engage with it.
So if we were asking for help around a specific project or working through a conflict with a colleague or a friend,
An answer might come forward,
But it requires action on our part in order to engage the help that the angels brought forward.
Part of our co-creation with the angelic team is then taking those action steps,
If there are any needed,
With the help in order to then also help ourselves.
I'd like to share another example from my own life so you can see how I've worked with connecting with my angelic team.
A few years ago,
I was contacted by a new client to work with her around some musculoskeletal difficulty she was having.
Because I do massage therapy and craniosacral therapy,
She believed that I could possibly be of assistance with what she was experiencing.
I took her on as a new client,
But after a couple of visits,
I realized that part of what was creating the problem was more from the bony structure than actually from the muscles.
I insisted gently a couple of times during our sessions that I didn't think that the work I could do for her would actually help with her long-term in recovering.
Now,
She had made up her mind that it was me who was going to help her,
And so she would continue to book appointments,
And I would work with her,
Knowing that the work I was doing wasn't going to make the problem worse,
But I kept trying to coach her to look into different options.
When she couldn't hear my voice telling her what needed to be her new direction,
I then reached out to my angel team.
As I was commuting to work one day,
I,
In the car while I was driving,
Began speaking with my angels.
In my out loud voice,
I spoke to my angel team,
Hi angels,
I'm needing help with this client.
The work I'm doing with her is out of my scope of practice,
However she can't hear me.
I was wondering if you could tell her that the work we're doing isn't helping her and refer her to another person that might be able to actually help her.
So after I made my statement,
I let it go,
Continued driving.
By the time I reached the place where I was working,
I received a phone call,
And it was the client,
And I answered the phone.
She said to me,
I think I need to cancel my appointment with you.
I don't think that you're able to help me.
In that moment,
I smiled and silently thanked my angels for sending the message to her.
I let her know that I was grateful for the time we worked together,
And hoped that she did find the right person that could help her.
After we ended the call,
I do what I always do when I know that I've been helped,
And I thanked my angel team.
There's one last thing that I'd like to talk about before we move into the how of the practice.
The important part about asking our angels for help is why are we asking,
And what is it we're asking for,
So that you realize that if the answers don't come,
If the help that you're asking for doesn't appear in the way you think that it should,
Does not mean you're not being assisted.
Sometimes our angels,
Our guardians,
Know from a higher perspective what's good for us,
And what's not so good for us.
And again,
The idea of working with your angelic team is this act of co-creation,
These places of needing assistance.
Our angels aren't necessarily doing the work for us,
However,
They might open the doors that allow us to take the action that we're needing to step into.
You can imagine it as a co-creative force working with you.
Working with our angelic team also doesn't always mean that our burdens,
Our challenges,
Will just be taken away from us.
Instead,
Sometimes it's those struggles,
Those challenges,
Or those burdens that maybe our angel team is helping hold up for us through that difficult time.
Working with our angels is a way to help us step into those difficult places and still know that we are cared for during those times.
So now what I'm going to do is walk you through the simple steps of asking your angels for assistance.
There are two ways that I encourage you that you can connect with your angels.
This can either be done verbally out loud,
And I'll talk about the importance of that,
Or in writing where you write it down when we use our voice.
Our voice carries a specific vibration.
When we speak,
We are actually vibrating the vocal cords inside of our throat.
That vibration then moves throughout our whole body,
Even if you're not feeling that subtle vibration.
That voiced action out loud is direct and is actually speaking to the angelic realm when you call for their help.
The same way when you write with your hand on a piece of paper,
You're actually physically directing your energy and that action becomes intentional.
So I'll let you decide what feels best for you,
Whether you want to use your voice or if you'd like to write your angelic request down on a piece of paper.
I'll have you move into a seated position now.
We'll move into a time of connecting with your angelic team,
Taking a deep breath in and exhaling.
I'll have you close your eyes.
Now we'll begin to call in the energy of our guardian angel,
Our ancestors,
The archangels,
Their energy to surround you.
Allow yourself in this next moment of silence to just connect with their loving energy.
I'll have you take a deep breath in and exhale.
Now with your eyes closed,
I'll have you call into your heart one specific thing that you're needing assistance with,
One thing that you'd like to ask your angels for help with.
I'll have you call into your mind,
Your imagination,
And your heart that situation you're wanting help with.
Once you've called this situation into your mind and your heart,
I also want you to let go of any specific outcomes that you want to happen in this situation.
Sometimes we don't always know the best answer.
That way,
When our angels go to assist us,
They can bring it in a form that's uplifting,
Even if it might be different than what we're expecting.
Now from this place of connection,
I'll have you open your eyes.
If you're doing this with your speaking voice,
I'll have you say it out loud.
And if you're writing down the specific sentence,
I'll have you write this down now.
Hi,
My angels.
Thank you so much for being present with me.
I'm needing your help in this situation or circumstance.
Thank you so much.
So I'll have you again speak those words that I just spoke or write them down.
Hi,
My angels.
Thank you so much for being with me today.
I need your help in this situation or circumstance.
Thank you so much.
So you can either speak that out loud or write it down.
Again,
Close your eyes once you've spoken the words out loud or once you've finished writing it.
Closing your eyes and once again connecting with the energy of the angels that are around you.
Take a deep breath in and exhale and opening your eyes when you're ready.
So now from this place where you've asked your angels for help,
You've let go of what that help might look like and surrender to opening to what might come forward.
When the answer or the ability to take an action step comes forward,
Then when you recognize that your angels have been with you on this journey,
I always recommend,
Although they don't require it,
That you just say thank you.
It allows you to recognize that you've been surrounded with this love,
This help,
And this guidance.
I'm grateful that you joined me in this talk today and hope that you find many blessings working with your angelic team.
The most important part of this is recognizing you don't have to earn the help of your angels.
The other is that you aren't alone on your path,
That you are surrounded with help,
And that all you have to do is ask for it.
I'd like to close our time together with a poem by John O'Donohue called A Blessing of Angels.

May they turn toward you streams of blessing.
May the angel of awakening stir your heart to come alive to the eternal within you.
To all the invitations that quietly surround you.
May the angel of healing turn your wounds into sources of refreshment.
May the angel of imagination enable you to stand on the true thresholds,
At ease with your ambivalence and drawn in new directions through the glow of your contradictions.
May the angel of wildness disturb the places where your life is domesticated and safe.
Take you into new territories of true otherness,
Where all that is awkward in you can fall into its own rhythm.
May the angel of Eros introduce you to the beauty of your senses,
To celebrate your inheritance as a temple of the Holy Spirit.
May the angel of encouragement confirm you in worth and self-respect,
That you may live with the dignity that presides in your soul.
May all the angels be your sheltering and joyful guardians.
It's my wish for you to find joy,
Excitement,
And beauty in working with your angelic team,
And I hope you have many happy adventures with them.
