Hello and welcome to this Gentle Time Story about a very sleepy panda and a magical dream parade which only occurs every hundred moons.
Thank you for being here.
Just before we settle in to hear all about this sleepy adventure we will take a moment to think about sleep.
How at this sacred time every night our bodies go into full surrender mode and we rest,
Repair and regenerate.
Our minds travel to other universes,
On adventures to different worlds and realms where anything is possible.
Taking a moment of gratitude in our warm hearts for this beautiful resetting process we do every night and the chance to start anew each and every day.
Pau the Sleepy Panda.
In a quiet valley nestled between misty bamboo forests and snowy mountain peaks there lived a panda named Pau.
He was the fluffiest panda you've ever seen.
Round like a dumpling with the softest ears and the sleepiest eyes in all of the land.
All pandas love naps,
That's well known.
But Pau,
Pau specialised in naps.
He was a champion napper.
He could fall asleep on a rock,
In a tree,
During a rainstorm or while chewing on bamboo.
If there was a cloud overhead,
Pau would stretch out beneath it and nap until it moved away.
He was a true connoisseur of rest.
The forest animals had a saying,
When Pau yawns even the leaves stop rustling.
Each morning,
Or rather,
Each afternoon,
Pau would wake up slowly.
So slowly,
In fact,
That by the time he finished his first stretch,
The sun had already climbed halfway in the sky.
He'd blink once,
Twice,
Three times,
Roll over and mumble softly.
Five more minutes,
Or maybe twenty.
But there was one event in the forest that even Pau couldn't ignore.
It was the dream parade.
The dream parade only came once every hundred full moons.
It was a magical event,
Where the animals gathered beneath the stars to walk through the moonlit forest,
Humming lullabies,
Whispering wishes to the stars,
And celebrating the dreams that fluttered like butterflies through the air.
The trees shimmered with silver light,
And even the clouds above took on a golden glow.
It was a night where wishes took shape and dreams danced beneath the stars.
All the animals looked forward to it.
Except Pau.
Why?
Because it happened after bedtime.
That evening,
As the sky blushed with twilight,
Pau was already tucked under his mossy blanket,
Soft as a cloud,
And surrounded by a sea of warm leaves.
His best friend,
Tula,
The turtle,
Was the first to find him.
Oh,
She called,
Her voice gentle as a breeze.
The dream parade is tonight.
Don't you want to come?
Pau stretched lazily and peeked out beneath his blanket.
Tonight?
Like,
After dinner?
His voice was thick with sleep.
Tula nodded,
Her little mushroom crown bobbing.
Yes,
After dinner.
There will be twinkling lanterns,
Songs in the air,
And floating clouds that hum lullabies.
Even the moon moths are coming.
Pau yawned and nestled deeper into his blanket of leaves.
Sounds lovely,
But I think I'll dream about it instead.
Tula smiled softly.
You're missing out,
Pau.
The dream parade is special.
It's a celebration of dreams,
Of wishes,
And all of the things that make the night magical.
You won't want to miss it.
But Pau simply sighed,
Pulled his blanket tighter,
And drifted back into his peaceful sleep.
But as the stars began to twinkle awake,
And the moon climbed higher in the sky,
Something strange happened.
Pau stirred in his sleep.
He dreamed of lanterns dancing like fireflies through the trees,
Of music that swirled like the wind and smelled like soft rain.
In his dream,
Pau heard the forest calling to him.
Pau,
Come see.
The dreams are walking tonight.
Pau reached out with a sleepy paw to touch the dream before him.
And then he woke up.
The forest was quiet,
Bathed in silver moonlight.
Dew clung to the leaves,
Making them sparkle like diamonds.
Somewhere in the distance,
Pau could hear the sound of soft drums and the hum of a lullaby.
The dream parade had begun.
He blinked his sleep-heavy eyes,
Then stretched slowly,
Yawning as he did.
Maybe just this once.
With a big lazy yawn,
Pau rolled out of his cosy blanket of leaves,
His fur puffing out as he stood up.
He waddled slowly into the night,
Feeling the cool grass tickle his paws.
As he walked deeper into the forest,
Pau noticed something magical.
The air seemed to shimmer,
Filled with the soft glow of lanterns that floated gently in the trees.
There were owls wearing tiny twinkling robes,
Holding lanterns shaped like stars.
The bushes whispered poems to the breeze,
Their leaves rustling like soft whispers.
Flowers glowed with a soft light,
And the soft scent of dreams lingered in the air.
Everywhere Pau looked,
There was magic.
His sleepiness melted away as he walked deeper into the parade.
Following the gentle music and the sound of laughter.
Then he saw Tula.
She was floating in the air,
Riding a soft cloud that drifted lazily above the ground.
She hummed a lullaby,
And tiny dreamlings,
Sparkling creatures made of light and soft snorts,
Danced around her.
Tula,
Pau called out,
Blinking in surprise.
Tula smiled at him.
Pau,
You made it.
Pau stretched out his paws,
Feeling like he might still be dreaming.
I think I'm floating,
He said,
His voice thick with wonder.
You are,
Tula replied.
But you're also awake.
That's the secret of the dream parade.
It only happens when you're just sleepy enough.
Tula guided Pau deeper into the heart of the forest,
Where the tree of whispering dreams stood tall and golden.
Its branches were full of shimmering dream cocoons,
Each one glowing softly like bubbles.
The air around the tree seemed to hum with a peaceful,
Sleepy energy.
This is the tree of whispering dreams,
Tula explained.
It's said that the tree can hear the wishes of all creatures.
If you walk in the parade with a wish in your heart,
The tree will grant you a special dream to share.
Pau looked up at the tree,
His eyes wide.
But what would I wish for?
He said.
I already have everything I need.
Naps,
Bamboo,
My friends.
I don't need anything more.
Tula smiled gently,
Her eyes twinkling.
Maybe not all wishes are for you.
Maybe some are for others.
Wishes that can help others find peace or joy.
Pau thought for a moment,
His big eyes soft and thoughtful.
He watched the other animals as they passed the tree.
Each one offering something kind.
An owl sharing a sweet lullaby with a little fox.
A squirrel giving a nut to a hungry raccoon.
And then Pau understood.
He reached into his heart,
Feeling the quiet place where his dreams lived.
And he whispered into his paws.
I wish for someone who has forgotten how to rest to find peace again.
The tree shivered with a soft glow.
And a golden dream cocoon floated down into Pau's paws.
It pulsed gently like a heartbeat,
Warm and soothing.
And it smelled like soft rain and honey.
This dream,
Said Tula softly,
Will find the one who needs it most.
Pau held the dream gently in his paws,
Watching as it shimmered like a butterfly.
It rose from his paws,
Drifting slowly upward,
Then flew off into the sky,
Disappearing beyond the trees.
The parade continued slowly.
Each step like the quiet rhythm of a lullaby.
Pau walked alongside Tula,
His heart full of peace and warmth.
The glowing dream cocoon floated like a soft star above them,
Drifting towards a faraway village.
As the first light of dawn began to creep into the forest,
The dream parade slowed.
The animals began to curl up in their favourite spots,
Under trees,
Inside hollows,
In soft nests woven from spider silk.
Tula smiled at Pau as she settled beside him.
You stayed up the whole night.
Pau blinked slowly,
His eyelids heavy.
Barely,
He mumbled.
Will you come next time?
She asked,
Her voice soft and warm.
Only if we nap all day before,
Pau said with a sleepy smile.
She giggled,
Snuggling up beside him.
Deal.
And so,
Pau curled up beneath the branches of the tree of whispering dreams,
Feeling the soft hum of magic around him.
The warm sun slowly stretched across the sky.
And Pau fell into the deepest,
Most peaceful sleep.
Peaceful sleep,
He'd ever known.
He dreamed of clouds that whispered lullabies and rivers that carried wishes.
He dreamed of a child in a distant village,
Wrapped in the warmth of the dream he had shared.
He smiled softly in his sleep,
Knowing that his wish had been heard.
Just before he drifted off into the deepest sleep,
He heard the tree sigh softly.
Thank you,
Little one.
The world is softer now.
So,
If you ever find yourself lying awake,
Wrapped in too many thoughts or shadows,
Close your eyes and think of Pau,
The sleepy panda,
Wandering through a glowing forest.
And maybe,
Just maybe,
A dream is already on its way to you.
The end.
