My name is Susan and I will be your guide this evening.

This Christian sleep meditation is intended to bring you to a place where you will feel safe and embraced by God's love.

I will share passages from the King James Version of the Bible,

Affirmations,

And yogic activities that will help you relax and drift into a peaceful sleep.

Simply follow my voice,

Staying aware of it until your mind is ready to descend into a deep and restful sleep.

Once the meditation ends,

There will be just music to help you descend into deeper sleep.

Settle comfortably into your bed,

Adjusting your position any way you need to in order to feel safe and relaxed.

Close your eyes,

Allow your head to sink softly into your pillows,

And sense the softness of your covers and quilts against your skin.

Become aware of your breath.

Take a deep breath,

And as you exhale,

Feel your body sinking deeper into a comfortable posture.

As you continue to breathe,

Take a moment to feel gratitude for your day,

To thank God for this precious day of life.

Feel a warm sense of gratitude flowing out from your heart,

And continue to notice your breath,

Allowing its easy flow to relax your mind and body.

Now,

Consciously soften all the muscles in your face,

Your forehead,

Your temples,

Your eyelids,

And all the tiny muscles around your eyes.

Let tension melt away from your cheeks,

Your lips,

Your chin.

Allow your whole body to soften and sink deeper into your mattress with each breath.

Now,

Say to yourself,

God is here with me.

God loves me.

I am one of his special creations.

Say it again to yourself.

God is here with me.

God loves me.

I am one of his special creations.

I am like a ray of light from the sun.

All the goodness in me is beautiful evidence that God exists.

Psalms 4 says,

I will both lay me down in peace and sleep,

For thou,

Lord,

Only makest me dwell in safety.

Feel this sense of peace and safety as you notice God's loving,

Nurturing presence embracing you.

Sense the warmth and comfort of your father,

Mother's presence.

You can place all your trust in the Lord as you fall asleep,

The same way you do during the day.

When thou liest down,

Thou shalt not be afraid,

Yea,

Thou shalt lie down,

And thy sleep shall be sweet,

It says in Proverbs 3,

24.

Now,

Continuing to feel God's loving presence,

Bring your awareness to your whole body.

Follow the guidance of my voice as I take you through different parts of your body.

Draw your awareness to each part directing prana or energy there without actually moving that part of the body.

Become aware of the right hand,

Right hand thumb,

Second finger,

Third finger,

Fourth finger,

The whole back of the body,

The whole front of the body,

Feel the whole body together on the floor.

Feel the whole physical body lying on the bed,

Completely still and relaxed,

Softening and sinking.

Visualize your whole body.

Now,

Notice the soft sound of your breath.

Feel the expansion and the release in your belly,

Ribcage and chest.

As your lungs fill with nourishing life energy,

And then gently release old energy that is no longer serving you.

Feel the easy flow of your breath.

As you breathe in and breathe out.

Breathing in knowledge that God is right there with you.

Breathing out and releasing all fears and worries.

Place any residual worries on God's altar.

Your father,

Mother will take care of you and provide you everything that you need for tomorrow.

Now,

You can just let go.

God has given us these nighttime hours to sleep,

To experience peace,

To renew ourselves for his work the next day.

The whole earth is at rest and is quiet,

Says Isaiah 14.

7.

Now,

Imagine that Jesus is sitting beside your bed.

See in your mind,

His kind eyes,

The gentle expression on his face and hear his soothing,

Loving voice saying to you,

Come unto me,

All ye that labor and are heavy laden,

And I will give you rest.

Matthew 1128.

Jesus loves you.

God loves you.

You are cared for and safe.

Now bring your awareness back to your breath.

As you breathe,

You will count down from 15 to one and repeat the mantra.

God is all around me.

Inhale 15.

God is all around me.

Exhale 15.

God is all around me.

Inhale 14.

God is all around me.

Exhale 14.

God is all around me.

Continue to count down with this mantra until you get to one.

If you get to one before I give you further instructions,

Just relax and feel a sense of gratitude.

Now cease the practice of counting.

And now I'll share a few more Bible passages to help you drift into sleep.

My presence shall go with thee,

And I will give thee rest.

Exodus 33,

14.

Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for him.

Psalms 37,

7.

And I said,

Oh,

That I had wings like a dove,

For then I would fly away and be at rest.

Psalms 55,

6.

Peace.

Peace.

Love.

Love.

Love.

Sleep deeply now,

Knowing that the Lord is always holding you in his loving embrace.
