Key 10,

Swings and Roundabouts.

When the last children had gone and the playground was quiet,

The swing and the roundabout would talk about the day just gone.

They were quite competitive.

The roundabout would goad the swing about how she could only go backwards and forwards and never get the full 360 degree view of the playground that he did.

The swing always bragged about her view.

The bigger children especially could take her high enough that she could see over the hedges to the park beyond.

She sensed the world was much bigger than they knew.

When the roundabout heard about yet another wonder she'd seen,

He'd always resort to telling her how many children he carried that day.

He always won.

The swing always let him.

Even though they bickered,

They both really appreciated each other's company and were secretly jealous of the experience of the other.

The swing loved the way the roundabout could go around endlessly with one good push.

The roundabout longed to see above the hedge to the world outside the playground.

One day at dusk,

After the gates were locked,

Two bigger boys climbed over the fence and came towards them.

The swing and the roundabout were apprehensive but a little excited about some activity when they normally rested.

The more athletic looking boy got on the swing but stood up on the seat.

This had never happened before.

Within less than two minutes he did something that made the roundabout gasp.

He went over the top in a full revolution.

The swing was in awe.

No longer did it boringly have to go up and down.

It could go around and around too just like the roundabout.

Just before the roundabout could get jealous it spotted the second boy with a gadget in his hand and one on the ground.

The blades on the gadget on the ground started to rotate around.

They went faster and faster into a blur and the remote-controlled helicopter rose into the air and went up higher than the trees.

The boys left as quickly as they came leaving the swing and the roundabout chattering away about new possibilities.

Just wondering how the swing felt with having its chains wrapped round the top bar after the loop? And thinking about admiring the view from where I am

Love this story. One level could be the wheel of fortune going round and back. Another perfect for your mindfulness course as a lesson in going with flow testing boundaries and observing what you see then and there
