Bodhisattva vows in English. The four Bodhisattva vows are taken by Mahāyāna Buddhists to achieve Buddhahood for the sake of all sentient beings. This version of the vows is being chanted in Zen Buddhist monasteries across Japan (as the: Shigseigan) and in the West. The vows empower the practitioner in working towards Buddhahood. Furthermore, it is a commitment to put others first, holding nothing back for themselves. It is a statement of willingness not to be attached to one’s well-being, even one’s enlightenment, but practice for the sake of all beings. English text: Sentient beings are numberless: I vow to liberate them. Desires are inexhaustible: I vow to put an end to them. The Dharmas are Boundless: I vow to master them. The Buddha way is unsurpassable: I vow to become it. The Japanese version of the vows is also uploaded among my Insight Timer tracks
