The Luminous Mysteries Of The Rosary Of The Virgin Mary

Dear friends,

Welcome to part four of the Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

The Rosary is a mantra type prayer which provides time for reflection on events in the life of Jesus.

I offer it here not only for the benefit of listeners in the Roman Catholic tradition,

But for people of all faiths and none who might be interested in mindfully exploring these events.

Here in part four of the Rosary we will reflect on what are called the Five Luminous Mysteries.

These were added to the Rosary in the year 2002 and by tradition they are prayed on Thursdays.

The Rosary begins with the sign of the cross,

Which is followed by the Lord's Prayer,

The Hail Mary repeated three times,

An opening invocation and the Gloria.

The five mysteries are then contemplated in turn during the recitation of these everyday prayers in a mantra like fashion.

For each of the mysteries we have the Our Father,

The Hail Mary repeated ten times and the Gloria.

When the five mysteries have been contemplated,

The Rosary concludes with the recitation of the Hail Holy Queen.

So if you are ready,

Where Jesus performs his first miracle at the request of his mother Mary.

O sweet Virgin Mary.

Pray for us a Holy Mother of God that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

May the divine assistance remain always with us and may the souls of the faithful departed,

Through the mercy of God,

Rest in peace.
