The Rosary is a meditative prayer in the Roman Catholic tradition. Events in the life of Jesus are reflected upon during the mantra-like recitation of certain everyday prayers. Today we reflect on five such events in what are called the Five Sorrowful Mysteries of the Rosary

Dear friends,
The rosary is a mantra type prayer which provides time for reflection on events in the life of Jesus.
It's offered here for the benefit of listeners in the Roman Catholic tradition and for people of all faiths and none who might be interested in mindfully exploring these events.

Here is part 2 of the Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary where we reflect on what are called the five sorrowful mysteries.
By tradition the sorrowful mysteries are prayed on Tuesdays and Fridays.
We begin with the sign of the cross which is followed by three Hail Marys,
An opening invocation and the Gloria.
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

The Lord is with thee.

In reciting the prayer,
The following five events are contemplated in turn.
The first sorrowful mystery,
The agony of Jesus in the garden at Gethsemane.
Our Father,
Who art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.

The scorching of Jesus following his trial.
