Hello my sweet listener.
Welcome to Storytime with Nana Jojo.
I'm so happy you're here.
I'm Nana Jojo and I have the most wonderful stories to share with you.
Every week I bring you magical stories filled with adventure,
Kindness,
And happy endings.
They're perfect for bedtime,
Nap time,
Or any time you want to hear a story.
We'll visit enchanted forests,
Meet brave princes and princesses,
And we'll learn important lessons about kindness,
Courage,
Friendship,
And staying true to ourselves.
But before we start our story today,
Let's get cozy.
Make sure you've got your favorite stuffy and maybe even a soft cuddly blanket.
Are you ready?
Wonderful.
Next,
Let's do some calming breaths together before our story begins,
Okay?
Remember that when we take big slow breaths,
Our bodies feel happier and more relaxed.
So let's breathe together,
Okay?
Take a nice big breath in through your nose like this.
And then you can make a sound as you breathe out like this.
Good job.
Let's do another one together.
Big breath in and breathe out again with a happy sigh.
Yay.
Awesome job.
One more time,
Okay?
Big breath in and breathe out with a happy sigh.
Super duper job.
Do you feel more relaxed?
Yay,
Me too.
Okay,
My sweet listener,
It's time for our story now.
Come snuggling close.
Let's begin.
This is the wonderful story of Jack and the Beanstalk.
It's a story about courage,
Kindness,
And the most amazing adventure that goes all the way up to the clouds.
Once upon a time,
In a little cottage at the edge of a peaceful village,
There lived a boy named Jack.
Jack had brown hair and eyes that sparkled with curiosity and wonder.
He lived with his sweet mom,
And she had the kindest heart you could imagine.
She loved Jack very much.
Jack and his mom didn't have much money,
But they had something better.
They had each other.
Their love filled their little cottage with warmth and happiness.
Outside their cottage was a cozy garden where they grew vegetables.
They also had a very special friend,
A sweet,
Gentle cow named Bessie.
Bessie gave them fresh,
Creamy milk every day.
Jack would pat Bessie's soft sides and whisper to her,
Thank you for taking such good care of us,
Sweet Bessie.
And Bessie would moo happily,
As if she understood every word.
One morning,
Jack's mom sat down beside him.
She had a worried look on her face.
My dear Jack,
She said softly,
I need to tell you something important.
Our cupboards are almost empty,
And poor Bessie hasn't been giving much milk lately.
I think she might be getting too old.
Jack loved Bessie so very much.
His heart felt sad.
What can we do,
Mom?
He asked.
I think we need to take Bessie to the market and find her a new home.
A home with someone who can take better care of her.
And maybe we can get some money to buy food too.
Jack could see how worried his mom was.
He felt very sad thinking about Bessie leaving.
But he wanted to help.
Don't worry,
Mom,
Jack said bravely.
I'll take Bessie to the market.
I'll find her a good home,
A place where she'll be happy.
Everything will be okay.
Jack's mom smiled and gave him a big hug.
You have such a good heart,
My dear Jack,
She said.
The next morning,
Jack put on his favorite blue jacket.
He tied Bessie's rope gently.
Come along,
Sweet Bessie.
We're going on a little adventure together,
Jack said to her.
It was a beautiful day.
The sun was shining warmly and the birds were singing happy songs in the trees.
As they walked along the path toward the market,
Jack talked to Bessie about all the good times they'd had together.
When they were halfway to the market,
Jack met a very interesting old man sitting beside the road.
The man had twinkling eyes,
A long silver beard,
And a very unusual hat.
The hat had tiny bells that chimed softly in the breeze.
Good morning,
Young fellow.
What a beautiful cow you have there,
Said the old man.
His voice was kind and gentle.
Thank you,
Sir,
Said Jack.
Her name is Bessie,
And she's the best cow in the whole world.
I'm taking her to the market today to find a wonderful new home for her.
The old man stood up and smiled the kindest smile Jack had ever seen.
Well,
Young man,
The man said,
I'm looking for a special cow.
Would you let me give Bessie a loving new home?
Jack's heart jumped with hope.
Oh,
Would you really take good care of her,
Kind sir?
I promise you she will be the happiest cow in all the land,
The old man said.
His eyes were kind and happy,
And they twinkled like stars.
But sir,
Said Jack,
My mom and I need to buy food.
Do you have any money to trade for Bessie?
The old man reached into his pocket and said,
I have something better than money.
I have magic beans.
He opened his hand.
Inside were five beans that seemed to glow and shimmer with their own light.
Magic beans,
Asked Jack.
His eyes grew big with wonder.
Oh,
Yes,
Nodded the old man.
These are not ordinary beans.
Plant these beans tonight,
And by morning you'll have an amazing surprise.
They'll bring you and your mom more than you could ever imagine.
Jack looked at the glowing beans.
Then he looked at sweet Bessie.
Then he looked at the kind old man.
Something in his heart told him this was right.
I trust you,
Kind sir,
Said Jack.
Please take good care of our Bessie.
She will be loved and cherished always,
Promised the old man.
He gave Bessie a gentle pat.
Jack hurried home with the magical beans in his pocket.
He was so excited to tell his mom the good news.
Mom,
Mom,
He called out as he ran into their cottage.
I found the perfect home for Bessie.
But when he told his mom about the trade,
Her face filled with worry.
Oh,
Jack,
She said sitting down in her chair.
Beans?
We needed money for food.
You traded Bessie for beans?
Jack's heart sank.
He saw the disappointment in his mom's eyes.
But mom,
They're magic beans.
The kind old man said they'd bring us more than we could ever imagine.
Jack's mom sighed.
Magic beans don't put food on the table,
My dear Jack.
I'm afraid a clever storyteller has tricked you.
She gently took the beans from Jack's hands.
She tossed the beans out the window into their little garden.
Let's go to bed now,
Jack.
Tomorrow we'll figure out what to do.
Jack felt terrible that he had disappointed his mom.
But deep in his heart,
He still believed in the magic beans.
When Jack woke up the next morning,
His room seemed different.
It was filled with a strange green light.
Jack rubbed his eyes and he looked out his window.
What he saw made his eyes grow wide with wonder.
Growing right outside his window was the most enormous beanstalk he had ever seen.
It was taller than their cottage.
It was even taller than the tallest trees.
It reached up,
Up,
Up into the fluffy white clouds in the sky.
Jack couldn't even see the top.
And the leaves were as big as dinner plates.
They sparkled with morning dew like thousands of tiny diamonds.
Mom,
Mom,
Come see.
The magic beans really were magic,
Jack called out.
His mom came running to the window.
Her mouth dropped open in amazement.
Oh my goodness,
She whispered.
I've never seen anything like this.
Jack looked up at the magnificent beanstalk reaching high into the sky.
He was filled with awe and curiosity.
Mom,
What if the old man was right?
What if this beanstalk goes to something wonderful that could help us,
Jack said.
His mom looked worried though.
It's so very high,
Jack.
What if it's dangerous?
I'll be very,
Very careful,
Said Jack.
And if I see anything that doesn't feel safe,
I'll come right back down.
But what if there's something magical up there that could make our lives better?
Jack's mom could see the determination and hope in his eyes.
If you're going to climb the beanstalk,
Promise me you'll be careful.
I promise,
Mom.
I love you.
I love you too,
My brave boy.
And so Jack began to climb.
He carefully placed his hands and feet on the strong,
Thick vines.
He climbed up and up,
Higher than he had ever been before.
The air was gentle and cool.
The leaves of the beanstalk seemed to whisper to him as he climbed.
You can do it,
Jack.
Keep going.
You're almost there.
As he climbed higher,
The cottage and garden below looked smaller and smaller.
The clouds surrounded Jack.
They were like soft,
White pillows.
Jack kept climbing.
Finally,
His head popped through the clouds,
And he found himself in the most amazing place he had ever seen.
Jack carefully stepped off the beanstalk.
He could walk on the ground up here.
But everything felt different.
It felt like he was in a dream.
The sky was a beautiful purple and blue,
And everything sparkled with a soft,
Gentle light.
Not too far away,
Jack could see a large,
Magnificent castle.
The towers of the castle sparkled like crystals,
And the gardens around the castle were filled with the most beautiful flowers.
Wow,
How wonderful,
Beamed Jack.
He felt like he was in a magical dream.
As he walked toward the castle,
Jack saw that everything here was much,
Much bigger than at home.
The flowers were as tall as he was,
And the grass came up to his knees.
As Jack approached the castle,
He heard booming laughter coming from inside.
He knocked gently on the enormous door,
And it opened to reveal the kindest-looking giant Jack had ever imagined.
The giant had rosy cheeks,
Kind eyes,
And a smile so warm it looked as if it could melt snow.
Well,
Hello there,
Little one,
Said the giant in a voice like friendly thunder.
What brings you to my castle in the clouds?
Hello,
Sir,
Said Jack politely.
His voice was tiny compared to the giant's.
I climbed up a magic beanstalk from the world below.
I'm looking for something to help my mom and me.
The giant's face lit up with delight.
A magic beanstalk!
How wonderful!
I've been so lonely up here.
Would you like to come in for some tea and cookies?
The kind giant led Jack into the most magnificent kitchen.
Everything in the kitchen was perfectly giant-sized.
My name is Theodore,
Said the giant as he prepared tea in a cup as big as a bathtub.
But you can call me Teddy.
What's your name,
Brave climber?
I'm Jack,
And I'm very pleased to meet you,
Teddy.
Teddy poured Jack's tea into a tiny,
Thimble-sized cup.
Teddy also offered him cookies that were as big as pizzas.
I used to live down in your world,
Explained Teddy,
But I grew so big that I accidentally scared people,
Even though I only wanted to be friends with them.
I came up here to live in the clouds so I wouldn't scare everyone.
Jack's heart filled with compassion for the lonely giant.
That must have been very sad for you,
Teddy.
It was,
Nodded Teddy,
But meeting you today has made me happier than I've felt in years.
As they talked and laughed,
Jack told Teddy all about his mom in their little cottage.
He told Teddy that they didn't have enough food.
Teddy's eyes filled with tears.
He felt sad for Jack.
Oh,
Jack,
He said softly,
I have so much up here in my cloud castle.
Can I help you and your mom?
Teddy then took Jack to his treasure room.
It was amazing.
There were golden coins,
Shiny jewels,
And magic things everywhere.
But this is the most special thing I have,
Said Teddy.
He showed Jack a beautiful golden goose,
And the goose laid perfect golden eggs.
Her name is Gertie,
And she's my dearest friend.
Every day she lays one golden egg.
But I have so many,
I don't know what to do with them all,
Said Teddy.
Will you and your mom take some golden eggs?
They'll be a gift from your friend Teddy,
That's me.
You'll never have to worry about food again.
Jack's eyes filled with happy tears.
Oh,
Teddy,
That's the most wonderful gift.
But are you sure?
Yes,
My friend,
Laughed Teddy.
I'm happy to share with you.
Friendship is the best treasure of all.
Teddy filled a small bag with golden eggs and gave Jack a big,
Big hug.
Will you come and visit me again?
Teddy asked.
I promise,
Said Jack.
You're the best friend ever.
Jack then carefully climbed back down the magic beanstalk.
He had a bag full of golden eggs,
And his heart was full of joy.
When he got to the ground,
His mom came running to him.
Jack,
Oh,
Jack,
I was so worried about you.
Mom,
Wait until you hear what happened.
Jack showed her the bag of golden eggs,
And he told her all about his new friend,
Teddy.
She was amazed.
And Mom,
Guess what?
Teddy said that we can both visit him anytime we want,
Jack said.
From that day on,
Jack and his mom had everything they needed.
The golden eggs gave them food,
A warm home,
And even more.
They shared with their neighbors and helped many people in their village.
Jack climbed the magic beanstalk to visit Teddy often.
They had tea and cookies together and played fun games in the castle high above the clouds.
And sometimes Jack's mom would climb up too.
She and Teddy also became good friends.
Teddy the Giant was never lonely again.
Jack learned that the best magic of all isn't gold or treasure.
It's the love we share with our friends.
And what happened to sweet Bessie the Cow?
Well,
The mysterious old man with the magic beans was a wizard.
He took very good care of Bessie in his meadow.
The meadow had sweet grass and the clearest water.
Jack visited Bessie often,
And she was happier than ever.
The wizard would smile and say,
Magic beans always find their way to people who believe in goodness and kindness.
The End And so,
My dear little listeners,
What did Jack teach us in this magical story?
He showed us that sometimes impossible things can happen and they can be wonderful surprises.
He taught us that kindness and friendship are better than any treasure.
And most important,
Jack taught us that when we share with others,
Our happiness grows bigger and bigger,
Even bigger than a magic beanstalk.
And as our story comes to an end,
Close your eyes and imagine climbing your own magic beanstalk.
Maybe your beanstalk goes to a land of friendly dragons who love to read stories.
Or maybe to a kingdom where all the animals can talk and sing.
Whatever magical place you imagine,
Remember that the real magic is inside of you.
In your kindness,
Your courage,
And your love for others.
And always remember that Nana Jojo loves you so very much.
I'll be right here when you're ready for another story.
And if it's time to go to sleep now,
I'm wishing you the sweetest dreams.
Good night and sleep tight.
I'll see you again soon.
Good night.
