Welcome to this guided meditation today where we'll be focusing on the gentle release of cortisol and the restoration of your body's natural hormonal balance.
Cortisol is often referred to as the quote-unquote stress hormone.
It's produced by the adrenal glands and actually it's essential for life.
It helps us to wake up every morning.
It helps us with responding to challenges and it helps us to maintain our energy throughout the day.
When we experience chronic stress though,
Cortisol can remain elevated in our systems longer than necessary and this can leave us feeling wired yet tired and completely exhausted.
It can also cause us to feel anxious or unable to fully relax.
The encouraging news is that our body has an innate wisdom and ability to naturally regulate and release excess cortisol especially when we create the right conditions for deep rest and restoration.
Today we'll be engaging in practices that are specifically designed to signal to your nervous system that it's safe to let go.
That it's safe to release what no longer serves you and to return to your natural state of balance and calm.
We'll begin with gentle breath work to activate your body's natural relaxation response.
We'll move through a gentle and loving body scan to release physical tension where cortisol may be stored and we'll end with a beautiful visualization that supports your body's natural detoxification and renewal processes.

More at peace and more connected to your body's innate healing wisdom.
My name is Wendy and I'm honored to guide you through this gentle journey of hormonal balance and deep restoration today.
Welcome.
Let's begin by finding your most comfortable position and gently closing down your eyes.
Lying down is ideal although sitting comfortably works beautifully as well.
When you're settled and cozy gently allow your eyes to close if they're not already closed and feeling yourself beginning to arrive here in this present moment.
In this moment of sacred rest allowing your body to start to release and to be fully supported by the surface beneath you.
Allowing yourself to go inward as you sink deeper into comfort and into ease.
Then let's take three cleansing breaths together.
Each one helps to send a signal to your adrenal glands as they can begin and continue to soften and release.
So taking a slow deep breath in through your nose and then exhale fully letting the weight of your day melt away.
Again inhaling deeply exhaling fully followed by a slow easy exhale.
One more time.
Deep breath in and exhaling out softening and relaxing.
Letting go.
Settling into this space of peace and calm.
Beautiful.
And now allowing your breath to return to its natural rhythm.
And then noticing how your body is feeling.
You consciously soften and release and let go.
As you've shifted into a state of conscious rest your cortisol levels are naturally beginning to decrease.
Your adrenal glands which sit like little caps on top of your kidneys are receiving the message that it's safe to rest.
It's safe to restore.
It's safe to release what they've been holding on to.
And now let's set a gentle intention for our practice today.
Perhaps something like I release what no longer serves me and I trust my body's wisdom to restore balance.
Choose what resonates most with you and then repeat your intention three times either out loud or silently in your mind.

Now let's begin a gentle body scan and as we move through each part of the body imagine that you're giving permission and allowing any stored stress or tension to simply melt away.
Starting at the top of the head bringing your awareness to the crown chakra at the top of your head and feel this area softening and releasing.
Notice if you've been holding on to any worry or stress here.
Simply let it dissolve.
And then moving your attention to your forehead to the space between your eyebrows and to your temples.
This is an area where we often hold mental stress because of overthinking.
So breathe into these areas and allow them to completely soften and relax.
Then moving your attention to your eyes softening your eyes and the area behind your eyelids your cheeks and softening here and smoothing away any stress and then move your attention to your jaw an area where so much stress can accumulate allowing your jaw to release and to slightly open completely releasing here then bringing your awareness to your neck and to your throat this area is so connected to our stress response so imagine a warm golden light flowing here melting away any tightness or constriction and now place your focus on your shoulders this is an area where we literally carry the weight of our stress so feeling your shoulders dropping down and away from your ears allowing your shoulders to release more with each exhale and then your arms your arms are becoming heavy and so relaxed each of your hands softly open and each finger is completely at ease placing your attention now on your chest and your heart center breathing here with tenderness your heart has been working so hard managing stress processing emotions so give it permission now to soften to slow down and to rest moving on to your solar plexus the area that's just below your rib cage this is where we often feel the anxiety and the stress in our body imagine and breathe in golden healing light into this space and imagine any cortisol that's been stored here imagine that cortisol gently dissolving and being carried away with each exhale and moving now to your belly this is where your adrenal glands are working so hard to keep you balanced so send love and gratitude to your adrenal glands and give them permission to rest imagine your adrenal glands releasing any excess cortisol like a spring rain gently washing the cortisol away from your system and continuing down through your lower back and your hips these areas often hold tension from chronic stress breathe into these areas with compassion and allow them to completely soften moving on to your thighs your knees your calves your ankles all are heavy and moving all the way down to your feet and to each of your 10 toes releasing and softening letting go feeling your entire body being supported by the earth beneath you and take a moment now to notice your whole body notice how different it feels from where we started the relaxation you're experiencing is your parasympathetic nervous system naturally balancing your cortisol levels and restoring harmony to your entire system now let's move into a brief yet beautiful visualization to support your body's natural cleansing and renewal imagine yourself in a pristine mountain forest the air is pure and clean and it's filled with the healing energy of nature you're lying beside a gentle crystal clear stream the water is flowing with perfect clarity and purity with each breath in imagine breathing in this pure mountain air filling every cell of your body with pure,
Fresh,
Healing oxygen and with each breath out imagine breathing out any stress that no longer serves you watch as it dissolves into the earth where it can be transformed into nourishment for the forest and the mountain now imagine the gentle stream beginning to flow through your body starting at the crown of your head the healing water is flowing through every cell,
Every tissue gently carrying away any excess cortisol any accumulated stress any tension you've been holding onto feel the cleansing water,
The stream flowing down through your brain washing away mental stress and worry the healing water is moving through your neck and through your shoulders releasing all that you've been holding onto it's moving through your chest and through your heart purifying and renewing all the cells and all your organs the healing water flows through your solar plexus and through your adrenal glands gently flushing away excess stress hormones and leaving only what your body needs for healthy functioning the healing water continues to flow through your belly your pelvis and your legs cleansing everything purifying everything and finally imagine this healing stream of water flowing out through the bottoms of your feet and into the earth all that you've released becomes compost for new growth and healing your body is now clean clear and restored know that your body's wisdom is greater than any stress you've experienced your cortisol levels are now naturally regulated your adrenal glands are restored and balanced and your entire system is in harmony allow yourself to embrace this knowing trusting in your body's infinite capacity for healing and renewal and now rest here in this place of perfect balance until you hear my voice again and now let's begin the gentle journey back back to waking consciousness start by noticing your breath and feeling the life force energy flowing through your beautifully balanced system and then start to bring some small movements into your body wiggling your fingers and toes gently moving your wrists and your ankles and slowly turning your head from side to side gentle movements like these help to support your circulation and the continued balance of your stress hormones take a moment now to notice how you feel perhaps there's a sense of lightness and ease a sense of natural balance perhaps and maybe you'd like to take a moment to thank your body for its incredible wisdom and for its ability to heal and to restore itself when given the chance and when you're ready,
Slowly opening your eyes and blinking gently as you do so and as you return to your day and carry with you the deep knowing that you have everything you need within you to heal and to maintain balance and peace your body's innate natural wisdom knows how to regulate your cortisol naturally especially when you create moments like this for rest and rejuvenation so remember to pause,
