Hello my sweet listener.
Welcome to Storytime with Nana Jojo.
I'm so happy you're here.
I'm Nana Jojo and I have the most wonderful stories to share with you.
Every week I bring you magical stories filled with adventure,
Kindness,
And happy endings.
They're perfect for bedtime,
Nap time,
Or any time you want to hear a story.
We'll visit enchanted forests,
Meet brave princes and princesses,
And we'll learn important lessons about kindness,
Courage,
Friendship,
And staying true to ourselves.
But before we start our story today,
Let's get cozy.
Make sure you've got your favorite stuffy and maybe even a soft cuddly blanket.
Are you ready?
Wonderful.
Next,
Let's do some calming breaths together before our story begins,
Okay?
Remember that when we take big slow breaths,
Our bodies feel happier and more relaxed.
So let's breathe together,
Okay?
Take a nice big breath in through your nose like this.
And then you can make a sound as you breathe out like this.
Good job.
Let's do another one together.
Big breath in and breathe out again with a happy sigh.
Yay.
Awesome job.
One more time,
Okay?
Big breath in and breathe out with a happy sigh.
Super duper job.
Do you feel more relaxed?
Yay,
Me too.
Okay,
My sweet listener,
It's time for our story now.
Come snuggling close.
Let's begin.
Once upon a time,
High up in the night sky,
There lived a little star whose name was Luna.
Luna was smaller than all the other stars in the sky.
Luna's twinkling light was soft and gentle,
Like a tiny firefly.
Every night,
Luna would look at the other stars around her.
First,
There was Stella.
Stella's twinkling light was a bright white.
Then there was Blaze.
Blaze's twinkling light was warm and golden.
And there was Nova.
Nova's twinkling light shined so bright that some children would point up and make wishes when they saw her bright light.
Luna was feeling sad.
I'm too small,
She thought to herself.
My twinkling light isn't bright enough.
Nobody even notices me.
One evening,
Luna tried as hard as she could to shine brighter.
She squeezed her eyes shut and she concentrated with all her might.
But when she opened her eyes,
Luna's twinkling light was still the same.
A soft,
Gentle glow.
Grandfather Orion had been watching Luna struggle,
And he asked Luna what was wrong.
I want to shine more brightly like the other stars,
Said Luna.
But no matter how hard I try,
My twinkling light stays small.
Grandfather Orion smiled at Luna and said,
Come with me tonight and I'll show you something special.
That night,
As they traveled together,
Grandfather Orion pointed down to Earth.
Do you see that little house with the blue roof?
Luna looked down and saw a cozy little house with a blue roof.
Luna could see a small bedroom where a little girl was lying in bed,
Unable to fall asleep.
That's Emma.
She's afraid of the dark,
Said Grandfather Orion.
Watch what happens next.
Luna watched as Emma's mom came into the room and sat on Emma's bed.
Emma hugged her mom,
And together they went to the window to look at the night sky.
Emma and her mom gazed at the big,
Bright stars.
Then suddenly,
Emma's gaze stopped.
She was looking right at Luna.
There's my star,
Mama.
There's my gentle little star.
See?
She's not too bright.
She's soft and friendly,
And she helps me feel safe.
Luna's heart filled with happiness.
She had no idea that anyone noticed her.
With a happy heart and a smile on her face,
Luna continued her journey with Grandfather Orion.
Soon they came upon a forest,
And Grandfather Orion pointed to a baby owl sitting on a branch.
The baby owl was just learning to fly at night,
And the big,
Bright stars were too bright for his sensitive eyes.
But Luna's soft and gentle twinkling light was just right.
Luna's light helped the little owl see the branch ahead without hurting his sensitive eyes.
See?
Your soft light is perfect for baby animals learning to see in the dark,
Said Grandfather Orion.
Onward they traveled.
As the night went on,
Luna discovered more friends who loved her soft,
Gentle glow.
There was an elderly man who liked to sit on his porch at night.
Like the baby owl,
The bigger,
Brighter stars were too bright for his eyes.
But Luna's soft twinkle was just right.
And there was also a mother fox guiding her little cubs through a meadow.
Luna's soft twinkling light showed them the way without frightening them.
There were also many other children like Emma who were comforted by Luna's soft,
Friendly glow as they drifted off to sleep.
By the time morning came and the sun began to rise,
Luna felt different.
She realized she'd been trying to be something she wasn't.
She realized she was already perfect just as she was.
As they prepared to rest for the day,
Grandfather Orion said to Luna,
You see,
My dear,
Every star has their own special light.
The bigger,
Brighter stars help sailors find their way across the oceans.
The medium stars help travelers find their way through the forest.
And you,
My dear Luna,
Help those who need a soft,
Twinkling light with your warm,
Gentle glow.
You bring comfort to the frightened and gentleness to the small.
Luna smiled brightly.
She finally understood her purpose.
From that night on,
Luna was happy to shine her soft,
Twinkling light in the sky.
Luna never again wished to be like the other stars because she knew that being herself was the most special thing she could be.
And so if you look up at the night sky,
You just might see Luna.
You might see her twinkling gently,
Watching over all the little ones who need a gentle and friendly light to help them feel safe and loved.
And so,
My dear little listener,
What did we learn from Luna's story today?
We learned that everyone has their own special purpose and gifts.
We learned that we don't need to be like everyone else to be important and valued.
Sometimes the most smallest and gentle contributions make the biggest difference to those who need them the most.
As our story time comes to an end,
I want you to remember that you have your own very special gifts.
I also want you to remember that Nana Jojo loves you so much.
If it's time for you to sleep now,
I'm wishing you the happiest,
Sweetest dreams,
My little love.
Good night and sleep tight.
