Hi.

My name is Whitney and I'm the author of Capota the Merman and the story of Satya.

Today I'm going to be reading this story to you.

So go ahead and find a comfortable position to lie down.

Relax in your own space.

Take a deep breath in and slowly let it go.

Capota the Merman and the story of Satya.

Capota the Merman swam into his first yoga class and that is where the story begins.

Alas,

He already felt like a pro.

His mom had taught him so.

I practice yoga at home all the time.

I can do any pose and I will be fine.

He knew he would be good even as his first day.

He walked right up to Ms.

Kurma and said,

Namaste.

I'm Capota which stands for king.

I am the best yoga student you have ever seen.

Ms.

Kurma just nodded and let Capota in.

The class just smiled,

Even the twins.

From there he excitedly laid out his mat and with confidence he grinned and sat.

Ms.

Kurma started to instruct the class.

Today we will start with dolphin pose.

Come down on your fins and scoot up those toes.

Capota had never done this pose before but he didn't want the class to find out he was poor.

He looked around the room and he felt insecure.

He looked at art of the dolphin and thought it must be made for her.

Deep down he knew he couldn't let them know.

He didn't want to look like some kind of freak show.

He decided to cover it up with a lie.

The class turned around when he let out a sigh.

I do this pose at home all the time but I can't do it now,

Just after meal time.

Next Ms.

Kurma taught the pose of a shark.

Lie on your belly and press up with your heart.

Knocky the shark was off the charts.

This time Capota tried to open his chest but realized he was no longer the best.

Ashamed and red faced he turned to rest.

Then came fish pose and it happened again.

Matzi and Patsy moved on without strain.

Their pose was so perfect it made Capota feel strange.

So next Capota confessed,

I was not honest I'm not the best.

I cannot do this pose or that.

So I may as well just roll up my mat.

But wait Ms.

Kurma replied,

There is one more pose you should try.

The next one is mermaid pose and I know you are the guy.

She started to teach the pose to the class.

Capota thought to himself at last.

In this pose he felt strong and confident and happy and free.

He said I knew this pose was made for me.

He found his Satya and with that he rang true.

The others joined in and shared their truth too.

Reaction is not necessary for Satya to view one step at a time and you will find peace in each posture you do.

The end.

The moral of this story is that Capota finds his Satya in the ancient yoga language of Sanskrit.

Satya means truth or truthfulness.

So as you rest tonight may you find your own inner truth and your own inner peace in your body.

This book can be acted out in a kids yoga class but it can also be enjoyed anytime you are ready to rest and take a nap.

I'm going to leave you here with this quiet music for a few more moments while you breathe slowly in and out.

In and out.

In and out.

In and out.

In and out.

In and out.

In and out.

In and out.

In and out.

In and out.

In and out.
