Welcome,
My name is Zile Okwujere.
It is my pleasure to host this meditation on transcending self-sabotage.
Before we begin this guided meditation on breaking free from self-sabotage,
Let's take a moment to gently reflect on what self-sabotage really is.
Self-sabotage is when we unconsciously interfere with our own growth,
Our own healing,
Or our own success.
It often arises from fear,
Old conditioning,
Or unconscious beliefs that whisper,
We are not ready,
We are not worthy,
Or we are not enough.
You might recognize it in yourself as,
For example,
Procrastination,
Procrastinating on goals that you really deeply care about.
You can also recognize it as avoiding rest or self-care when your body really needs it,
Or saying no to opportunities out of fear that you might fail.
It can also be recognized as repeating the same behaviors that leave you feeling stuck.
These behaviors don't make you weak,
But they are signs that a part of you is trying to protect you in ways that may no longer serve you.
This meditation is an invitation to bring compassion to those parts of you,
To listen gently and to begin to shift back into alignment with your deeper truth.
You are allowed to grow.
You are safe to receive.
You are worthy of showing up fully in your life.
Now find a position that is comfortable for you.
You may sit upright with your spine supported,
Or you may lie down on your back with your body gently open.
Let your hands rest softly on your lap or by your sides,
And if it feels natural,
Allow the palms to face upward,
Welcoming peace and healing.
Close your eyes,
Take a deep breath in,
And slowly exhale.
Again,
Inhale deeply,
And exhale and let go.
Begin to feel your body softening.
Let your shoulders relax.
Release any tension from your jaw.
Release tensions from your forehead,
Your belly,
And relax your entire body.
You are safe here.
You are supported.
You are returning to yourself.
Now,
Gently bring to mind one behavior of self-sabotage you've noticed in your life.
It might be recent or something you've struggled with for a while.
You don't need to fix it right now.
Just observe,
Like watching a cloud pass through the sky.
With gentle curiosity,
Ask yourself,
Where do I tend to hold myself back?
What am I afraid might happen if I truly succeed?
What am I afraid might happen if I truly heal or receive?
Pause here for a moment.
Allow the answer to arise without judgment.
Often,
Behind self-sabotage is a younger part of us.
A tender place that learned it was safer to shrink than to shine.
To hide rather than risk being hurt.
Now,
Place your hand over your heart,
If that feels right,
And gently say to yourself,
I see you.
I hear you.
You don't have to protect me in this way anymore.
Let your breath carry that message inward.
Now,
Imagine that behavior or fear as a shape or color in your body.
Where do you feel it most?
Visualize a warm,
Golden light beginning to form there.
A healing light filled with gentleness,
Truth,
And love.
With each breath,
See this light expanding,
Softening the tension,
Dissolving the old story,
Clearing space for something new.
Now,
See inwardly.
I choose to trust myself.
I release what no longer serves me.
I am free to rise.
Now,
If you would like to,
You are invited to chant a beautiful mantra,
Known as Hu,
H-U.
It is pronounced like the word H-U-E,
Hu.
Hu is an ancient name for the divine.
It is a vibration of love and spiritual connection.
It is a cleansing mantra that can help align your life.
You can chant it out loud or inwardly.
Allow it to carry your intention to heal,
To grow,
And to be free.
I will now demonstrate how to chant the Hu.
You simply take a deep breath,
And on exhale,
You chant Hu.
You take another breath,
And you chant Hu.
And you feel the resonance calming your heart,
Aligning you with your higher self,
Clearing the inner noise so that your truth can be heard.
You chant gently,
Softly from the heart.
In the background,
You will be hearing a group Hu chant.
You can chant or sing along,
Or you can simply listen and receive inwardly.
Let us chant for about two minutes,
And then allow the chant to fade into silence.
Let this sound dissolve the old story.
Let it clear your space for something new.
Now,
Let's begin.
Now,
Slowly bring your awareness back to your breath.
Feel your body,
Your heart,
Your spirit more spacious,
More open.
Take a moment to thank yourself for being here,
For being present.
This was an act of courage and kindness toward yourself.
Repeat inwardly,
I no longer need to sabotage what I love.
I no longer need to sabotage what I love.
I trust myself to take the next step with clarity and care.
I trust myself to take the next step with clarity and care.
When you are ready,
Begin to return to your surroundings.
Move around your fingers and toes.
Gently stretch if you need to,
And softly open your eyes.
Welcome back.
Thank you for joining this peaceful healing space.
May love be with you always.
