Let's prepare to meditate.
Adjust your body so that you are comfortable.
Close your eyes.
Rest your hands in any way that feels comfortable for you.
Take a nice,
Filling breath in.
Breathe deeply in through your nose and breathe out slowly through your mouth.
Do this again.
Now when you exhale,
Breathe out with a long sigh.
Continue this breathing a few more times to settle your mind and body.
You are ready to begin.
You find yourself in a dusty old shop that sells antiques.
You are surrounded by wooden furniture,
Different colored glassware,
And mirrors and paintings of all different sizes.
All rolled up in the very back corner of the shop,
You find a small carpet.
The carpet is a little dusty,
But it looks to be in great shape otherwise.
Something about the carpet calls to you,
And you know you need to have it.
The shopkeeper is thrilled you have taken interest in the carpet.
That thing has been here forever,
She says.
Let it be my gift to you.
You can take it for free.
You are surprised.
You thank the woman sincerely with a big goofy grin on your face.
You leave the shop and wave to the shopkeeper.
The moment you step outside,
The carpet tugs itself from under your arm.
It unrolls itself in front of you and hovers there just a few inches from the ground.
This is magic carpet.
This is your first look at your new rug.
What does it look like?
What colors is it?
What patterns does it have?
The carpet does a little wiggle in front of you to invite you to climb on.
You happily accept the invitation and jump on excitedly,
Grabbing the front edges of the carpet to get a good grip.
You are all ready to go,
But the carpet doesn't move.
It must need you to tell it where to go.
Think of a place you've always wanted to see,
Or a place you absolutely love to visit.
The magic carpet seems to be able to read your thoughts,
And suddenly you speed off into the air.
Imagine now flying through the clouds.
Go and visit three different places you love,
Or imagine flying to three different places you've always dreamed of seeing.
Imagine everything you could see atop your very own magic carpet.
As our meditation comes to a close,
Draw your attention back to your real body.
Notice and feel where your body is touching the floor or chair.
Wiggle your fingers.
Wiggle your toes.
Take a deep breath.
Now go ahead and stretch out your body in any way that feels good to you.
When you are ready,
Open your eyes.
Now go out and find all that's good in your day.
