Welcome to this meditation for a morning body blessing.
Before you step into your day.
Let's take a few minutes to acknowledge what carried you here.
Your body.
This extraordinary,
Complicated,
Faithful body.
We spend a lot of time at war with our bodies.
Too much of this and not enough of that,
And why isn't it doing this differently?
So this morning we're going to try something else.
We're going to say thank you.
So close your eyes.
Bring your attention to your feet.
These feats that carry you through your days.
These feet that know the ground.
These feet that have walked every mile of your life so far.
That jumped and skipped and ran and played when you were a child.
And then faithfully grew with you and carry you everywhere you need to go.
Take a breath of gratitude towards them.
And move your awareness now up to your legs.
To the muscles and bones that hold you upright.
To all the joints that bend and flex thousands of times a day without your conscious direction.
Breathe your gratitude here.
And now come into your belly.
Your torso.
The container of all those organs.
The whole intricate system inside you,
Working continuously.
Without rest,
To keep you here.
Your lungs.
Right now,
Breathing.
Protected by your ribs,
Your heart.
Right now beating.
Without your intervention.
And without your instruction.
This body just faithfully,
Quietly,
Doing its work.
Think of the strength of your shoulders.
All they've carried.
Your arms and your hands.
Everything they've held,
Made,
Reached for,
And built.
Your throat and voice.
Your eyes open or closed right now.
Your mind always working.
Trying to keep you safe.
To make sense of things.
To find a way.
Take a breath that honors the whole of you.
In and out.
Some words of blessing now for this body of yours.
Thank you for carrying me.
Thank you for breathing without being asked.
Thank you for healing when I didn't notice.
I am grateful to live inside this body.
I treat this body with kindness today.
This body is enough.
I am in us.
I begin today in gratitude for being here.
Take one more slow,
Deliberate breath.
For your body,
With your body.
And go and meet your day.
Thank you so much for sharing your space with me today.
Have a wonderful day.
