In this session, Teja Bell introduces the first week of Yin Yang Medical Qigong's 'Phoenix Qigong' series, focusing on vibrant and healthy living. He guides practitioners through four distinct exercises: 'Phoenix Stretches its Wings,' 'Phoenix Ascending,' 'Phoenix Waves its Wings,' and 'Phoenix Presses its Wings Forward.' Each practice involves coordinated breathing and movements to promote physical and mental well-being, culminating in a seamless sequence of the four exercises. Practitioners are encouraged to practice these forms over the month for optimal benefits.

Transcript

Welcome to week one of our practice flow of Vibrant and Healthy with Yin-Yang Medical Qigong.

Our first four practices are those of Phoenix Qigong.

We'll practice each of these forms uniquely and then weave them together in a sequence.

The first practice is called the Phoenix Stretches Its Wings.

We begin in our standing meditation gesture and then with an in-breath we let the hands flow out to the side,

Palms facing outward.

Make this V shape up here,

The fullness of in-breath as you stretch upward.

Then with the exhalation,

Shoulders,

Elbows,

Wrists,

Press down,

Complete the exhalation and in-breath.

And X.

Once again.

One more cycle.

Fullness of in-breath,

Stretching up,

Lengthening and opening.

Then shoulders,

Elbows,

Wrists down last,

Press down,

Clear through.

And one last breath in here.

The second practice is called Phoenix Ascending.

Beginning with an in-breath,

Stretch and lengthen and draw in with your exhalation.

Press out with an in-breath and settle,

Press with your exhalation.

In-breath and X.

Another cycle.

Our third practice of the Phoenix Series is called the Phoenix Waves Its Wings.

Beginning with an in-breath,

Extending,

Lengthening,

Complete that in-breath all the way up with a stretch.

Then with an exhalation,

We also release shoulders,

And hands down the front.

Gently bow the spine.

In-breath and X.

Our fourth pattern of practice in the Phoenix Series is the Phoenix Presses Its Wings Forward.

Beginning with an in-breath,

Then exhale as you come into the bow of the spine.

Exhale,

Press forward and lean forward.

In-breath as you straighten,

Press down,

Lengthen,

And release.

In-breath,

Bow,

Exhalation,

In-breath,

Stretch forward,

And straighten,

In-breath,

Release downward.

Now let's weave the four patterns of Phoenix Qigong into a coherent sequence.

There you have the four patterns of Phoenix Qigong.

Enjoy those,

Practice those over the course of the month.

See you again soon.
