Coming to find a comfortable seat or standing with the feet about shoulder distance apart.
If it feels comfortable for you closing down the eyes.
And just taking a moment to bring your awareness into the body into the now.
Becoming aware of where your feet are making contact with the earth.
And beginning to imagine.
But there are roots extending out from the base of your feet,
Through the floor and down into the earth below you.
Now connecting with the breath.
Allowing each inhalation and each exhalation.
To be nice and slow and long.
Now connecting each exhalation with this image of the roots extending out from the bottom of your feet down into the earth.
Allowing each exhalation to deepen and extend this root network.
So that each exhalation allows you to root further into the earth,
To ground down.
Allowing each breath out.
To be nice and long.
Breathing air into that root network and allowing it to extend deeper into the earth.
Each exhalation allowing you to root down and ground down.
And now integrating the inhalation.
Letting each inhalation move up through the spine.
Imagining that your torso becomes like the trunk of the tree and each inhalation allows it to grow up and extend towards the sky.
Finding a balance and a reciprocity between the inhalation and the exhalation.
Inhaling to rise up and exhaling to root down.
Letting each inhalation invite this feeling of expansion and spaciousness And each exhalation invites a feeling of connecting to the earth and grounding down.
Just continuing this for a few more rounds of breath.
Finding that balance between inhaling to rise up and exhaling to root down.
Continuing with this rhythm of the breath and just taking a moment to notice how it feels in your body.
To have this balance between rooting down and rising up.
A sensation I like to think of as grounded inspiration noticing for a moment how this feels in your body to embody grounded inspiration.
Taking one more round,
Inhaling to rise up through the spine,
Lengthening,
Expanding.
And exhaling.
To find some grounding.
And then gently releasing these images.
Releasing the control of the breath and letting the breath settle back into its normal rhythm allowing the sensation of grounded inspiration to stay with you as you gently open the eyes again.
And return back into the rest of your day.
