Hey there friend,
Thanks for hitting play today.
My name is Anthony V.
Lombardo and in this meditation I want to guide you through a simple process of getting extreme clarity to help you grow and connecting with what you really want for your life right now by conducting a personal life review.
You can also think of it as a year-end review,
But this can be done at any time.
I personally like to do this at the end of every calendar year or after any big chapter in my life has come to an end,
Or even after I complete any big project or endeavor that I put a lot of energy and time into.
It can be a great way to look at your life holistically,
To go inward,
And reflect on the past several months or year.
This process will allow you to acknowledge all the good things that has happened in your life while helping you garner insights about what you learned,
How you may need to grow,
And where you want to take your life in the near future.
And ultimately it will give you greater clarity of what really matters to you and the life you want to lead going forward.
So during this meditation I am going to first guide you through four self-reflection questions,
Which will be all about slowing down into a relaxed state and going inward.
Then in the final part,
While we're in that state of heightened consciousness,
We are going to use those insights we just cultivated as a springboard to define what goals you want to commit to going forward and what type of life you want to lead over the next six to twelve months or so.
This process is intended to be a guided meditation,
But you can totally do this as a journaling exercise if you prefer.
However you want to engage with it is perfectly fine.
But I do recommend trying it purely as a meditation first.
So you can just sit back,
Close your eyes and just listen to me guiding you along to allow the insights to just come to you naturally without trying to force anything or overthink.
Then at the end I definitely encourage you to grab your journal and write down all of your insights and ideas that came to you during the process.
And you don't have to worry about forgetting anything that comes to you by doing it as a meditation.
You could always listen to this recording again and then pause it to write down your answers and insights.
So let's now take about 30 seconds or so to settle into your seat or if you're lying down to get comfortable and slow down and just get relaxed in the best way that suits you.
So let's begin just by grounding ourselves in the present moment.
You can do that in whatever way feels most natural to you.
You can connect with your breath,
Maybe feel your feet contacting the floor below you or just focusing on the sensations throughout your body.
You are here.
Right now.
There is nothing to do and nowhere to go.
It's all happening now.
This is where you are.
This is all there is.
Think back over the last 6-12 months of your life.
Gently recall what comes to mind and just allow the memories to bubble up.
To help you jumpstart your memory,
You can consider the various areas of your life.
For instance,
You might think of your health and fitness.
Your emotional well-being.
Your spirituality.
Your love life and romantic relationship.
Your family life.
Your social life and community endeavors.
Of course,
Your financial life,
Your career or business.
You can even think of the skills you've learned.
Your hobbies and interests.
Even your leisure time and adventure.
All you're doing right now is observing.
Just notice what stands out as you look back at the last several months or year of your life.
You can think of it like you are watching a quick movie within your mind about your life in recent times.
Just watch.
And so,
We can begin with our first question.
During this time period of your life,
The last 6 months,
The last year,
What went well?
Think about it.
What went well?
This question is just as much about gratitude as it is about acknowledging your accomplishments and all the good things that happened.
So instead of what went well,
You can reframe this as,
What happened that I am thankful for?
Who helped and supported you?
In what ways did it feel like lady luck was on your side?
How did the universe guide you?
What blessings and incredible moments came your way?
Consider it all.
And as you think of all the things in your life that went well,
Smile from the inside and take a moment to celebrate each one.
I will give you about 2 minutes to explore this.
Now,
For our next question.
Let's call upon the more compassionate,
Non-judgmental part of ourselves as we ask the inverse.
Over the last 6 months,
Over the last year,
What didn't go so well?
Bear in mind this is not about beating yourself up,
Living with regret,
Or reliving the discomfort from the past.
This is about acknowledging you're human and that struggles and setbacks are part of the journey.
So without any judgment or critique,
Reflect on the challenges and setbacks you encountered during this time.
What problems did you have to deal with?
And yes,
Consider your failures too,
As difficult as that might be.
You can also reframe this as,
What blocked me?
Where did resistance show up in my life?
As you reflect on this,
You might want to pay close attention.
If there are any patterns to the struggles,
To the resistance,
To the challenges,
Did any of them share a common theme or thread?
Did any of these issues repeat?
I'll give you about a minute to reflect on this.
Now with these challenges and difficulties that you've encountered fresh in your mind and still connecting to that compassionate,
Non-judgmental part of yourself,
In all sincerity,
Why do you think you struggled?
Why do you think you stumbled?
Again,
This is not about lamenting our actions.
It's about self-awareness.
It's about understanding ourselves more deeply and truly.
When we get at the root of our personal challenges,
It reveals the answers to why we struggle.
The devil is always in the details,
And is usually found in our level of thinking,
Our state of mind,
Our feelings,
Behaviors,
And habits.
So I invite you to use this time to take a sincere look at all of those.
I will give you another two minutes to explore.
So with this deeper understanding of how you struggled,
We can ask our last and maybe our most important question.
What have you learned?
What have you learned?
What insights did you gain?
If you stay connected with those same challenges,
Identify what lessons you learned.
What was life trying to teach you?
Avoid overthinking this,
And instead go with your gut,
By allowing the answers to flow from your intuition.
You can consider this in terms of what you learned about yourself.
You can also consider what you learned about others,
Or about a particular relationship,
Or just about life in general.
You can also reflect on what you might have done differently.
Yes,
Hindsight will always be 50-50.
But what actions would you take in the future,
Knowing what you know now?
And if you're having a hard time trying to find the lesson to your struggles,
That's okay.
You don't have to force it.
Just by being open to the possibility and considering your struggles from this place of wisdom and compassion right now,
It makes you available to receiving those insights.
And you don't have to restrict this question to only your struggles and challenges.
You can pose this question to all the various aspects of your life,
To see what other insights you can discover.
We are always learning and growing,
And receiving insights.
Whether through our struggles,
Our triumphs,
And everything in between.
Lessons come in all flavors and forms.
Take this time to explore those lessons.
Now we'll move into the last part of this exercise.
And it starts by asking,
Where do you want to go from here?
As you stay tapped into those insights and lessons you learned from the past,
There's no better time to decide where you want to go in the months ahead.
If you think back to all the major areas of your life,
Consider each one and ask yourself,
What do you want for this area of your life?
What are your intentions?
What do you desire?
How do you want these areas of your life to be?
One way I like to think about this is by examining the most important areas of my life based on these five themes of growth,
Experience,
Explore,
Create,
And serve.
So for growth,
You can simply ask,
For this area of my life,
How do I want to grow going forward?
For experience,
What do I want to experience in this area of my life?
For explore,
What do I want to explore in this area of my life?
For create,
What do I want to create?
And for serve,
How do I want to serve others?
The goal here is not to limit yourself,
And allow your imagination to run wild,
And allow your higher self to guide you.
This is where the lessons learned from doing your personal review in part one becomes invaluable.
When we lean into the lessons life teaches us,
Especially the hard ones,
The struggles and setbacks,
It gives us more clarity on our intentions,
What our soul really desires for the future,
And the type of life we really want to lead.
So again,
Looking back at what happened in your life over the last several months or year,
Where do you want to go?
What are your intentions for the future?
And you can jumpstart that by reflecting on,
How do you want to grow and evolve in all the various aspects of your life?
What new experiences do you want to have over the next several months?
What do you want to explore?
What do you want to build and create?
And how do you want to serve others and the world?
I will give you about four minutes just to linger in this space and allow whatever insights and ideas and desires to just flow to you.
Okay friends,
We're at the end of our exercise here,
But I invite you to stay in this space as long as you need to,
And whatever insights came to you,
Write them down in your journal and in the days and weeks ahead,
Reflect on them.
You can always return to this exercise and do it again to deepen your understanding of what you learned from the challenges of the past and to strengthen your clarity of your intentions for the future ahead.
The more we find things to learn from our experiences,
The more we understand about ourselves,
How we want and need to grow,
And ultimately the life we want to lead.
Thanks for sharing your journey with me today and for trying this exercise.
It truly is an honor and I'm curious to know how it went for you.
I'd love to hear about it.
So feel free to share your feedback and drop me a note in the comments.
I wish you lots of light,
Love,
And wonderful experiences in your journey ahead.
Have a wonderful,
Beautiful,
And highly conscious day.
Much love.
