Difficult emotion can sometimes free the mind to the door of the imagination. This meditation is inspired by Buddhist teacher Rob Burbea and his approach to exploring experience with curiosity, creativity and freedom. Rather than asking you to meditate in a particular “right” way, this practice invites you to experiment. You might notice sensations, emotions, thoughts, images or subtle qualities of experience, and gently explore what happens when you relate to them differently. There is no need to achieve a particular state or make anything happen. You are invited to discover what is possible when you bring a spirit of openness and playfulness to your experience. As always, take care of yourself as you practise. You are free to adapt the meditation, pause, open your eyes, or stop at any time.
