Welcome to this meditation reflecting on the four agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz.
And today's agreement is the fourth agreement,
Always Do Your Best.
So a few readings from the book from Don Miguel Ruiz's book.
You can only be you when you do your best.
When you don't do your best,
You are denying yourself the right to be you.
That's a seed that you should really nurture in your mind.
And then I asked myself,
Why wouldn't I want to do my best in every single moment,
Every day?
In yoga,
We talk about being our highest,
Brightest selves as an intention to show up,
To show up 100% authentically as ourself.
And why not always do your best?
Why not?
I want to share a story before we move into the meditation from Don Miguel Ruiz.
And this is about a man who wanted to transcend his suffering.
There was a man who wanted to transcend his suffering.
So he went to a Buddhist temple to find a master to help him.
He went to the master and asked,
Master,
If I meditate four hours a day,
How long will it take me to transcend?
The master looked at him and said,
If you meditate four hours a day,
Perhaps you will transcend in 10 years.
Thinking he could do better,
The man then said,
Oh master,
What if I meditated eight hours a day?
How long will it take me to transcend?
The master looked at him and said,
If you meditate eight hours a day,
Perhaps you will transcend in 20 years.
But why will it take me longer if I meditate more?
The man asked.
The master replied,
You are not here to sacrifice your joy or your life.
You are here to live,
To be happy,
And to love.
If you can do your best in two hours of meditation,
But you spend eight hours instead,
You will only grow tired,
Miss the point,
And you won't enjoy your life.
Do your best,
And perhaps you will learn that no matter how long you meditate,
You can live,
Love,
And be happy.
Such a great message.
Such a great message.
And my recommendation is to get this book and read this entire chapter.
Read the entire book and this entire chapter.
I could read this entire chapter to you.
It is so valuable.
There's so many nuggets of wisdom.
And instead,
We're going to move into a meditation reflecting on always do your best.
And the affirmation for today is I commit to doing my best.
It's a simple affirmation.
And one more passage I want to read from Don Miguel's book,
As you're hearing me turn the pages,
Is this final agreement.
He talks about how it brings together all of the first three agreements.
The first three agreements will only work if you do your best.
Don't expect that you will always be able to be impeccable with your word.
Your routine habits are too strong and firmly rooted in your mind.
But you can do your best.
Don't expect that you will never take anything personally.
Just do your best.
Don't expect that you will never make another assumption.
But you can certainly do your best.
And then reminder,
What are all of the four agreements?
Be impeccable with your word.
Don't take anything personally.
Don't make assumptions.
Always do your best.
All right,
Set up for meditation.
Take a seat or lay down.
Take a long,
Slow,
Deep breath in.
And gently release.
Let that go.
Take five more breaths,
Arriving to this present moment.
Inviting in this affirmation today.
I commit to doing my best.
And Don Miguel Ruiz,
He talks about always do your best.
Your best is going to change from moment to moment.
It will be different when you are healthy as opposed to sick.
Under any circumstance,
Simply do your best and you will avoid self-judgment,
Self-abuse,
And regret.
Repeating this affirmation out loud as a whisper or silently.
I commit to doing my best.
I commit to doing my best.
And then,
I commit to doing my best.
I commit to doing my best.
I commit to doing my best.
I'll watch the time.
Make yourself comfortable.
Repeat this affirmation.
Seal these four agreements.
I commit to doing my best.
Continue and you'll hear three soft bells.
And I'll be back.
You you you you you you you you Gently welcome yourself back into this space.
Take a long slow deep breath in.
And allow yourself to sigh,
To empty out,
Release,
And let go.
And check in.
Check into how you feel,
What you sense.
What did you notice?
What do you experience?
What do you visualize when you think about showing up as your best today as you end this meditation?
Today and every day always do your best.
And to infuse these four agreements again into your mind.
The first one is be impeccable with your word.
Don't take anything personally.
Don't make assumptions.
Always do your best.
Consider repeating this meditation and the previous three meditations to practice this code of conduct written by the shaman Don Miguel Ruiz.
To invite you into an experience of freedom and true happiness and releasing any of your self-limiting beliefs.
Thank you for joining me in this meditation.
Many blessings.
Peace out.
