Hello,
Thank you for being here.
This meditation is based on a practice from Catherine Woodward Thomas.
And today we're going to concentrate our efforts on developing an awareness of the interconnectedness that binds us all together always.
So when you're ready,
I invite you to find a comfortable seated or lying down position.
And closing the eyes if you would like to close the eyes.
Begin by taking a few deep breaths.
Notice if there's any tension in the body.
If so,
Releasing it with the exhales and just allowing yourself to feel even more relaxed.
Now focus on your breathing.
Allowing your breath to fill up your belly and then your heart.
Imagine a beautiful light expanding the energy around your heart with each inhale.
And on your exhales,
You're sending that light out to your space,
To your house,
To your world.
Begin to bring to mind your loved ones.
Imagine being with them and notice that there is a vibrant energy that connects your heart to their hearts and back again from them to you.
Say to yourself,
I am connected to everyone and everything.
Continue envisioning your loved ones one by one,
Noticing the energy that connects you and saying to yourself,
I am connected to everyone and everything.
Now think of your co-workers,
Your neighbors,
Or any people that you come into contact with on a regular basis.
Again,
Notice that beautiful force fields of energy connect you with each person you see.
Whether you know that person by name or not,
Repeat the phrase to yourself with everyone you think of.
I am connected to everyone and everything.
Now begin to imagine that you're walking down a street.
Again,
See energy connecting you to everyone you pass,
To the drivers and the cars going by,
And the people in the shops that you pass.
Continue to repeat the phrase,
I am connected to everyone and everything.
Next,
Think of those people you were estranged from.
Maybe it's because there's unresolved anger between you.
Maybe it's because time has passed and you've lost touch.
Whoever comes to mind is fine.
I am connected to everyone and everything.
As you repeat the phrase with each person who comes to mind,
Imagine a beautiful energy passing between your heart and theirs,
Connecting you in love.
Now begin to see this vibrant light energy that is emanating from your heart.
Begin to see it connecting with every sentient being on this planet.
The energy from your heart is wrapping around the earth,
Down into the soil and up into the sky.
Back again to your heart from all corners of the earth.
Feel your energy expanding.
And then slowly from this interconnected place,
Knowing that you are connected to all that is,
Slowly take three deep breaths.
Filling your belly,
Filling your heart.
And on your third exhale,
Slowly beginning to blink your eyes open,
Come back into the room and into your day without losing the sense of interconnectedness.
Throughout your day today,
I invite you to connect with your own heart and repeat silently to yourself,
I am connected to everyone and everything.
Consciously relate to those around you.
Look to discover the connection between yourself and others.
Make eye contact.
Speak to someone you would not ordinarily speak to.
Maybe smile at someone you might normally look away from.
Ask someone how they are and pause long enough to listen to their response.
Take time today to know that we are all connected.
