Let's take a deep breath in and let it go.
Breathe in,
Breathe out.
Welcome to a hit of hope.
This is a slightly salty one.
Sometimes it's a battle to get your ass in a chair or on a bench,
Whatever you choose to sit and meditate.
It can be a fight to fight off all the reasons not to sit.
I have too much to do.
I don't wanna.
It's so easy not to go in.
It's even easier to stay lost in the old tapes running in your head.
To be in that sucking suckage that pulls you in and drags you down.
Inhale.
Exhale.
Seeing those old tapes,
Though,
Really facing them is what needs to be done to free yourself from their pull and power.
The tapes running in your head can have all kinds of themes,
But one of the common ones might be the woe is me tape.
Life has been cruel.
Here are my wounds.
Do you see?
Oh woe is me.
This is not to make light of your pain.
The wounds are real and they can hurt like hell.
It is vital to bring words to our wounds,
To name them,
To bring them to those who can help us heal.
That's the point.
To heal from the wounds,
Not let them fester and feed the old tape of woe is me.
The wounds are real and yet at some point we have to choose not to continue carrying them front and center.
This is not easy.
When we are hurt,
We want everyone to see.
But think of it this way.
When you live in a woe is me mindset,
You want someone to know how hurt you are,
How wounded and I get it.
I totally get it.
Yet if woe is me is the mindset where you stay,
You live waiting to be pitied.
You are an object,
Powerless.
All of the action is done to you.
Something else to think about when we live in a place of woundedness,
How often might we lash out wounding others.
Is that how you want to live?
When you step away from the woe is me narrative endlessly looping in your head,
You step away from living in a place of woundedness and into a life of agency,
Of power.
When you step away from woe is me,
You let the bad events be just that.
Bad events.
You do not let them contaminate the rest of your life.
You yes,
You are able to move on to the next adventure.
You are the subject of your story.
The one with agency,
Purpose,
The one in charge of the narrative.
Then you turn away from being someone to be pitied and you turn into someone to be admired.
And whatever dragons next dare to cross your path,
Beware.
You stand ready,
Fierce and unafraid.
Namaste.
