This is a present-moment style of guided meditation. We don’t always have a peaceful, noise-free environment in which to meditate. Therefore the focus of this meditation practice is to learn how to find peace among all the noise we are often surrounded by.

The soul has been given its own ears to hear things the mind does not understand,

Rumi.

We don't always have a peaceful,

Noise-free environment in which to meditate,

Therefore the focus of this meditation practice is to learn how to find peace among all the noise we are often surrounded by.

As you settle into today's practice,

First address the physical noise made by the body.

You want to remove as much discomfort as possible.

Choose a position you can remain in for an extended period of time with ease,

Allowing all your focus to go towards listening and looking inward.

Take a moment to smooth out the breath,

Making it silent and slow,

Moving in through the nose,

Deep into the belly,

And back out the same way.

The light music you hear right now will slowly fade over the next minute.

As it continues to get quieter,

Attune your ears to every sound you hear around you as it happens.

Allow your attention to grab a sound as it comes in and then move on to the next one as that sound disappears.

If a sound is constant,

Take note of it and push it to the back of your awareness.

Our intention here is to be as present as possible with what we hear going on in our current space.

If everything is silent,

Take note of that as well,

And maybe try to listen for more distant sounds.

This will be the practice for the next little while.

A bell will sound,

And I will rejoin you when it is time to move on.

Were you able to see how you can find some peace,

Even among all the noise?

Granted,

Some noises can make this difficult,

But I think it is still an important thing to practice.

I rarely have silence every single time I practice,

And find this kind of meditation to be very beneficial for those situations.

I hope this has been helpful,

And I thank you for spending this time with me today.
