Welcome to the universal language of music.
Before we begin,
Here's something beautiful to keep in mind.
Research shows that listening to music can increase dopamine,
The brain's feel-good neurotransmitter,
While also activating areas connected to memory,
Emotion,
And empathy.
In other words,
Music doesn't just entertain us,
It can literally connect us.
It helps regulate our mood,
Deepen our emotional awareness,
And even strengthen our sense of belonging.
Music is a fantastic way to take time to recharge.
So,
As you settle in,
Know that the music beneath this meditation isn't just background sound.
Your brain,
Your heart,
And your whole nervous system are responding to it.
It's part of the meditation and chosen specifically for this practice.
It's part of you during this session.
Take a gentle breath in,
And a slow breath out as you fully arrive in this moment.
Allow your body to settle into your seat a little deeper wherever you are.
Let yourself rest easy.
Maybe close your eyes to feel the words and music a little more fully.
Begin to notice the music,
Just listening.
Notice the rhythm,
And let it meet you exactly as you are.
Music speaks without needing to be defined.
It doesn't require explanation or translation.
It moves through cultures,
Orders,
And through time.
As you listen,
Notice how your body responds.
Maybe your breath subtly synchronizes.
Maybe your muscles soften.
Maybe a feeling or memory arises.
No need to chase anything or push anything away.
Just let the music move through you.
The same rhythm or something similar has been felt by millions of people across the world.
Someone sitting on a train.
Someone hiking in the mountains.
Someone cooking in their kitchen.
Someone grieving.
Someone celebrating.
All of these people living different lives.
Maybe they speak different languages,
And each one has a different life story.
And yet,
This melody reaches them too.
Let yourself feel that for a moment,
A knowing that you're not alone in your human experience.
They're a part of a shared human experience.
Music reminds us of that.
It bypasses the thinking mind,
And speaks directly to the heart.
As the sound continues,
Imagine that every note is a thread connecting you to the different versions of yourself.
The person you were five years ago,
To the person you're becoming.
A thread connecting you to every person you'll meet.
A thread connecting you to humanity as a whole.
Just like the notes of a song,
You are a single note in the vast symphony of humanity.
Unique,
Distinct,
And irreplaceable.
Notice how the music expands and contracts.
How it builds and softens.
Your life moves this way too.
Intensity and rest.
Sound and silence.
Connection and solitude.
These ebbs and flows of expansion and contraction.
And they all belong.
Let the music wash over you.
Reflecting the growing and softening moments of your own life.
Take a deeper breath in.
Place one hand over your heart if that feels comfortable for you.
Feel the subtle rhythm of your heartbeat inside your chest.
Your own internal rhythm.
The musical imprint of you as a human being.
It has been playing since before you had language,
Before you had titles or roles or expectations.
Just the beating rhythm.
Let today be guided not only by words,
But by the musical rhythm of your life.
By resonance and harmony.
Let your day be led by the quiet knowing that you are a part of something vast and beautifully interconnected.
Take one final cleansing breath in and gently exhale.
When you're ready,
Open your eyes and carry this sense of connection with you.
The universal language is always available.
All you have to do is listen.
Thank you for sharing this practice with me,
And I look forward to sharing our next session together.
