Today I woke up at 4 a.

M.

With my mind racing,

With my being filled with schedules and to-dos.

I knew I wasn't falling back asleep,

So I got out of bed with a clear direction for the day.

I need to cut out some excess noise.

I need some time today to go radio silent,

And I need to make some soup.

Welcome to your daily whisper.

I am Cara Bradley,

Sharing my stream of consciousness today,

My raw,

Real,

Unscripted reminders and reflections.

I record these whispers because I know in my heart that we are more the same than we are different,

And if I'm going through something,

Reflecting on something,

Then someone out there is as well.

Today I remind myself that my nervous system is a receptor.

It's receiving information,

Stimuli from the external world all the time.

It's like those old rabbit ear antennae on our TVs,

If you remember that,

And sometimes it's just too much,

And I get overstimulated.

I get overwhelmed.

My system gets fried,

And I wake up at 4 a.

M.

Or perhaps can't fall asleep.

If like me you're feeling this way,

Then this whisper is for you.

My solution today is simple.

I know it's not going to be easy to do,

But I can do hard things.

My plan is to be diligent about cutting out excessive noise and stimulation,

Taking charge of what I allow in to the best of my ability by controlling how much news I look at,

Social media,

Other stimulation,

To go radio silent as best I can today,

To turn off my phone,

To turn off the devices.

I need to do this.

I need to allow my system to settle down.

So my solution today is to cut out the excessive noise,

To go radio silent for an hour at least,

Maybe even half a day if I can pull that off,

And most importantly I know I need to make some soup because making soup helps me to feel grounded,

Present,

And calm.

I hope this was helpful.

Thank you for listening.
