Hello there,
And welcome to another Brightwood Forest adventure with me,
Charlotte G.
This one is called The Whispering Wind.
Take a moment here just to snuggle down.
And first of all,
Try to tighten up every bit of your body,
From the tips of your toes to the tip of your nose.
Tighten everything as much as you can.
Tighten,
Tighten,
And let go.
Feel that peacefulness all through your body and mind.
Take some time here,
Just before we begin our story,
To relax your eyes,
Relax your face,
Let all your muscles go.
They've been busy today,
And it's just time to rest now.
Relax your shoulders and your arms down into your soft,
Warm,
Cosy bed.
Let your tummy relax,
Your legs and your feet.
Let your whole body melt into cosiness while I tell you the tale of the Whispering Wind.
On a hill overlooking Brightwood Forest,
There was a special spot where the winds always seemed to whisper sweet,
Gentle words to make the animals of the forest feel better.
This place was known as Whispering Wind Hill.
The winds here brought messages of comfort and love to anyone who visited and needed them.
One day,
A young deer named Faye felt troubled by a storm that had passed through Brightwood Forest.
It made her feel scared,
And she tried to pretend that she wasn't.
She didn't want to admit to being scared,
Because she thought the others would laugh at her and say,
Oh,
It was only a little storm.
She headed to Whispering Wind Hill.
She'd heard about its soothing whispers and wondered if it could help her.
When Faye reached the hilltop,
She sat and closed her eyes and let the soft breeze brush against her fur.
The wind whispered kind,
Reassuring words in her ears,
Telling her tales of bravery and kindness from the creatures of Brightwood.
It told her that no matter how scared she felt,
Or how much she was worried about things that had happened,
Or that might happen,
There was always going to be a way to get through them.
It told her that she was brave,
Strong,
And that she could do difficult things.
The wind reminded her how she'd faced her fears in the past,
And also,
Very importantly,
How she'd asked for help when she needed it.
It told her how proud the other animals in Brightwood were of her,
And how much everyone loved her.
Soon,
Rusty the red panda joined Faye.
He told her he'd had a little argument with a friend in the forest and found himself worrying about it and feeling a bit sad.
I came up here because the whispering wind always knows how to calm our hearts and remind us we can always put things right with some help from a friend or a trusted grown-up who makes us feel safe,
He said with a warm smile.
Faye told Rusty about being afraid of the storm,
And then afraid of people thinking she was silly.
Rusty replied,
Oh,
I don't think you're silly at all.
Storms are really scary sometimes.
You're brave to admit it.
It's brave to face our fears and share them.
If you ever want to talk about feeling scared,
I'm here for you,
And I'm sure our other friends are too.
Faye nodded and felt her worries start to fade,
Replaced by a sense of peace and belonging.
As they sat on the hill under the glittering stars,
The wind began to sing a gentle nighttime lullaby to them.
They listened for a while to its beautiful song,
And then eventually they both walked home,
Down the hill,
To their own nests and snuggled down.
As they drifted off into a lovely restful sleep,
The soft whispers of the wind carried their worries away.
As Faye's eyes grew heavy,
Her heart felt lighter.
She let herself sink down softly into sweet,
Peaceful dreams,
Knowing there was nothing wrong with being frightened sometimes,
And that it was good to share that.
She felt warm,
Cozy and safe as the wind sung its sweet lullaby around the forest.
Now,
It's time for you to get really cozy and snuggly,
Like Faye and Rusty,
And drift off into a beautiful pink bedding.
I'll see you again here for another Brightwood adventure soon.
Night,
Night,
Sweet dreams.
