Today we're going to talk about compassion.
What about compassion?
You know so many great teachers of course.
Buddha is known for compassion.
Guan Yin.
Compassion.
Compassion is is really someone understanding and that exhibition of like unconditional love for the situation of a person and what they're in.
But at the same time not necessarily engaging and embodying that situation right.
So there's more of a choice in compassion than there is for someone who's empathetic.
I mean empathy is generally a component of compassion.
But there is a difference between the two.
Now a person who's feeling empathy could or maybe could not respond with a compassionate action when they take on or experience the emotions of another person.
But there's cognitive empathy as well as just empathy.
And that would be a different experience.
Cognitive empathy is slightly more detached where you understand what another person is going through but you may remain in a different emotional state.
And sympathy is pretty much the same thing as cognitive empathy.
Now these are all interesting mental discussions.
But how do you as an empath discern that and actually mentally choosing to look at that situation with a different viewpoint than just feeling it and being subject to it.
Compassion is a way you can channel your empathy I believe.
And compassion isn't a real reflex,
It's a choice that you make.
You know where empathy is just that emotional reflexive response.
And compassion can be a wonderful practice that you live.
You can actually decide whether you want to cultivate compassion.
It might be valuable for you to decide how to channel that objectively and put that into work for you as compassion.
And there's a few steps you can do to practice compassion that might be very valuable for you.
I mean every day you can actually start your morning with your meditation and you can observe how you are feeling if you've taken something on that is the feeling of empathy that's kind of attached to you.
And you can decide how you wish to focus or magnify what you have been feeling.
Now that can be done in meditation.
If you decide to be aware of it as a kind of Buddhism and that can actually give you a chance to use that altruism in compassionate ways.
You can do this by deciding how you wish to use goodwill towards others or kindness towards others.
Or maybe something as simple as writing a note of sympathy,
A note to someone that you know has gone through something.
Or maybe you could write a poem or create a piece of artwork and channel it through your creative side towards others.
There's many wonderful ways to channel your empathetic nature into sympathy and compassion.
And I think the first step is just to be aware of how it is different and that can again be done through meditation.
That is a wonderful gift that you can get as you decide to use your mind your higher self and your higher level of consciousness and your objective observer that we've been talking about through your work in meditation.
Let's go into a state of meditation.
Let's just breathe and just do a clearing breath or two.
Breathing deeply in,
Holding your breath and releasing anything that you may have drawn to you that might be burdening you or taking on energy of others.
Let's do some deep clearing breaths.
Breathing in and releasing and letting go and letting go and letting go.
Any feelings you've attached to or feelings or hurt or energy that you felt,
Let it go.
And now put that protective white light around yourself.
Breathing in and going up,
Up,
Up and letting that light extend up way,
Way,
Way hundreds of feet above you and below you,
In front of you and behind you on either side of you until you're in a protective white light and feeling safe from any other energy to come in.
Now just allow yourself to be bathed in this wonderful white light.
And go to that place of your soul,
That golden room where you can go and let your soul's light come in.
Allow yourself to go to that place of the objective observer and your higher self.
And just allow yourself to be present in that higher viewpoint and allow it to infuse you with all of the energy from your higher place to everything you might have been feeling.
And now see if there's a way that you can compassionately engage in that situation without having to be subject to the energy of others.
The emotions involved.
Imagine a way you might wish to respond compassionately.
It might be a creative way of expressing it as I did.
I wrote some poems about this.
It might be a way you could write a note to someone or take the time to listen to them objectively in their situation.
Find something that you might feel if you want to act upon a way that you have felt that might be a positive action that will release it from your emotions and allow you to extend kindness and goodwill towards that situation.
And now we're going to come down and allow you to write down some ideas that might have come to you.
And remember as you come back into yourself that by writing something down again,
You're reinforcing a way to make it more objective and to take action upon it and to remove it from your emotional feeling state.
Now breathe in and come back slowly,
Totally healing anything that you might have felt.
Bathing and cleansing anything you might have to release and remembering in your mental state ways you can channel this to add to and prove your goodwill and your compassion to a situation.
Now slowly come out of meditation and take the time to just allow yourself to put to work the compassionate way of working with what you might be feeling.
I send you my love,
I send you my blessings and know that you always can choose your higher self and that soul action to work with you to help others.
