The morning mind dump,
Or conscious writing exercise.
First what you'll need is a nice fresh pad of paper and a pen that you like to write with and finally a cup of tea.
Take these off somewhere you can be quiet for 20 minutes and close the door.
Now,
Taking up your pad,
Start to write.
Write what's uppermost in your thoughts.
Write as fast as the thoughts come.
Don't worry about full sentences,
Punctuation,
Grammar or even legibility.
You're never going to read it back anyway.
Just write.
As you get these superficial thoughts out of your head and onto the page,
The deeper thoughts will start to bubble up.
Write these out too.
And if you're reflecting on an experience or an event,
You may notice that your reactions,
Your responses,
Your connections,
Your memories your pain also begins to come up into your conscious mind.
Just pour it out onto the page and just keep writing.
If the thoughts dry up or your thoughts bounce to something else,
Just continue writing about this or pause your pen until a new thought emerges.
Continue this outpouring of thoughts from your head onto the page via your pen for an allotted time.
And when the time's finished,
Simply tear out the pages,
Chuck them in the bin and start your day.
