Creativity Is A Relationship
In this guided creativity meditation, we will explore seeing creativity as a lifelong relationship, rather than an outcome, output, or activity. We will play with the possibility that creativity is always with us and we can invite her/him/them to come closer. Let's feel, breathe, and connect with creative energy now...

Good morning and welcome to the artist's morning.
My name is Darius and I'm so grateful that we get this time together.
Today's meditation practice will be on the theme of creativity.
Now some people believe creativity is an outcome,
An output,
Or maybe even an activity.
Personally,
I believe creativity is a relationship,
A lifelong relationship with this energy,
With this essence.
Sometimes for me in my life,
I even like to personify creativity as a woman,
A beautiful,
Intelligent,
Deeply fascinated woman.
However you like to imagine creativity,
Our goal with our meditation today is to bring us into closer connection with creativity.
Let's begin our meditation.
If your eyes are open,
Let's take a deep breath now and gently close our eyes together.
Breathing in,
Going nice and slow,
Taking a moment to land in our seats this morning.
Land in your body,
Being with whatever is here now.
But do you notice where does your attention go?
Don't judge it,
Don't try to change it.
Be with whatever's here.
Maybe you are tired,
Maybe you are excited,
Maybe you are distracted.
Just be with whatever is here now.
Mind starts to wander.
That's okay.
That's what creative minds can do sometimes.
Whether you subscribe to the same belief as I do that creativity is a lifelong relationship,
Us and creativity,
Two energies,
Two essences in this relationship for life.
Believe that like I do,
Or if you don't believe that like I do,
It's okay.
Just for the purposes of this meditation,
I'd like to invite you to play with that possibility.
Possibility that since the very beginning of your human life,
Since the first moment of creation,
Your birth,
Creativity have been on this journey together.
You feel it's easy for you to feel it,
Maybe it's really subtle and distant.
Is she your space now?
We invite her to come closer.
Warm and comforting space for her and for you.
You're surrounded by an energy that feels like a big warm hug now.
Be supportive and nourishing and slowly creativity steps in and closer to your heart.
Notice how that feels to your heart.
This deeply loving,
Lifelong companion of yours in closer to your heart.
Taking a moment to reflect on the journey from the very beginning to this moment.
You don't need to think too deeply.
It's just a feeling.
Feeling these ups and downs,
Twists and turns,
All of our lives full of surprises,
Excitement and joy,
Fear and disappointment.
It's all a part of the journey.
This whole time creativity has been holding your hand,
Dancing with you,
Smiling at you,
Flirting,
Being silly,
Being sacred.
Always here with you to take a moment to connect with creativity and maybe to share some gratitude and love.
Bravo dear artist.
Maybe you danced with creativity,
Maybe you sat,
Maybe you smiled,
Maybe you cried,
Maybe you chose to look away.
Current relationship with creativity is.
It is a choice.
It is your choice.
For this next part of our meditation,
You're open to it.
I'd like to invite you to just sit with creativity and feel with creativity.
Words are needed.
Sometimes the deepest communication is just breathing together and just feeling together.
I'll stay quiet and let you to feel,
Breathe and connect.
Bravo dear artist.
Whether you were able to connect deeply with creativity or not,
You're still here and I'm grateful.
This is our last song.
This is an open meadow.
This is freedom.
This is whatever you'd like it to be.
I want to invite you and creativity to play,
To fantasize,
To get silly,
To go deep.
I'm going to stay quiet for most of this song and give you two a chance to connect.
Pay attention.
Maybe there is a message creativity would like to share with you.
Let's take one more deep breath together,
Breathing in and letting it all go.
Let's land back in our bodies,
In our seats.
You made it to the end of a meditation.
I'm so grateful for that.
My hope is that you feel more connected with creativity.
For those of us joining artist morning live,
I'm going to put 20 minutes on the clock and allow you to continue nourishing that relationship with creativity through some private personal journaling.
If you're catching us on a replay,
Perhaps on insight timer,
Of course you could do the same,
Put 20 minutes on your own clock,
Get a pen and paper out and see what's here and ready to express through you.
Thank you for meditating with me.
My name is Darius and we will see you next time.

Thank you 💫.A beautiful meditation, with enough space to encounter your own creativity. Nice to listen to before the painting moment starts, or even in the background while painting 🎨

Much needed practice. I used to think and label myself as a non-creative. A few years ago I realised that just because I wasn’t expressing my creativity in the most common ways we see in society, it doesn’t mean it is not flowing within me. There are multiple ways to express it. Since then, I’ve been exploring my own expressions of being creative. The way I visualise creativity is as a multicoloured dancing flame. It surrounds and touches me with its movements and flows. It reminds me the beauty of flexibility and adaptability, of opening our horizons for new landscapes. It makes me want to live and explore. Get out of my comfort zone. It fills my heart with the excitement of possibilities. May I keep cultivating this inner flame. May it keep dancing. Thank you for being a instrument for this cultivation. Appreciate you. Gratidão. 🙏🏽

Thank you so much Darius! It was such a beautiful and magical dance full of colors and joy with creativity. Also I reviewed so many tiny things I’ve done in which creativity was completely showing up and I didn’t noticed at all.

Hello! Last night I read about ideas being alive in Liz Gilbert’s Big Magic, and you happened to offer this meditation. Talk about serendipity x11! My creativity is a woman, and that woman is me when I embody all of who I’m meant to be. She told me this morning, “Give what you offer, and see what happens.” And so I shall. Thank you for a magical practice! ✨💜
