If you’re building a writing habit, starting your first book, or simply learning to trust yourself on the page, this 10-minute practice will help you ground your energy, sharpen your focus, and step into your identity as a writer with confidence. Today is a new day. A new page. A new opportunity to tell honest stories. Optional writing prompt: Set a timer for 10–15 minutes and write from this starter: “If I fully believed I was a real writer today, I would…” Let it roll without stopping to edit or fix. Stuck? Try: “If I wasn’t worried about what people think, I would write about…” “If I knew my words could actually help someone, I would say…” After your free-write, underline one sentence that feels the most alive. Spend another 5–10 minutes expanding just that one sentence into a short piece.
