Good morning and welcome to the Artist's Morning.
My name is Darius and I'm so grateful that we get this time together this morning.
Today's meditation practice will be on the theme of clearing energy,
Particularly stuck energy,
Stagnant energy that no longer serves us and is ready to be released.
Today's practice will be exactly that,
Practice.
Practice in making space for ourselves to feel what's real,
What's alive inside us,
And then if you are open to it,
Connecting with that energy in a loving manner to see if it's ready to be moved,
To be released,
To be let go of.
Stuck energy sometimes can become dense and heavy and it's easy sometimes to push it down and sweep it away deep inside us.
Of course that's not a great long-term strategy and so if you are open to it today at your own pace we will explore and see if there is any stagnant stuck energy that is ready to be let go.
Let's begin our meditation.
If your eyes are open I'd like to invite you to gently close them now as we begin to go inwards together.
Bring a gentle softness to fall upon you now,
Starting from the tip of your head,
Softening your forehead,
Your eyes,
Your nose,
Bringing softness to your cheeks,
Your jaw,
Your lips,
Allowing this softness to work its way down your neck,
Dropping your shoulders to the ground,
Feeling the warm embrace of this softness down your arms,
Your torso.
It feels like a hug from someone you love,
Continues working down your stomach,
Your pelvic region,
Your legs feel relaxed.
This warm embrace continues going down,
Down,
Down your legs,
Your knees,
Your shins,
Until it hits your feet and your toes.
Taking a nice deep breath here,
Ease and comfort into your body now,
Noticing the rising and falling of your chest as you take in,
In.
You can go at your own pace if you'd like to enhance the experience.
Just take deeper breaths,
Perhaps holding at the top of your inhale,
Letting go with an audible sigh,
Breathing in,
Holding at your shoulders,
Letting go and draw these deep breaths.
I want you to imagine they are new energy coming in and they flood your system with new energy that allows old stagnant energy to be flooded out gently,
Real simply.
Breathe in new energy,
In.
It can move old energy,
Breathe out the old energy,
Can gently be released.
Sometimes stuck energy can be more dense,
Can't flood it out,
That's okay.
But for these dense energy locations as well,
There's no rush to get rid of them,
There's no rush to ignore them and shun them.
Energy,
All your emotions,
All your parts,
All your thoughts,
All your feelings,
Full permission to all of them.
You don't need to become them,
But you're allowed to experience them.
Taking a moment to bring your awareness to any such energy,
Denser,
Heavier energy in your system.
Maybe you feel it in a specific spot in your body,
Maybe it's not a location,
But it's a sensation,
Maybe it's really clear and maybe it's really,
Really subtle.
And maybe you can't feel it at all,
Maybe you just happen to have no such energy and that's okay too.
This next part of the meditation,
I'm going to encourage a little bit of movement,
Specifically if you're open to it,
Placing your hand on your heart,
Lovingly,
Soothingly,
Affectionately,
Petting your heart area.
This self-touch sometimes can deepen the experience.
I'm going to share a few words and you get to choose if you'd like to gently love and pet your heart.
And if you don't want to,
That's okay too.
Taking a nice deep breath.
Dear beloved heart,
Thank you for everything you do,
Everything you bring into my life,
All the experiences.
Thank you,
All the experiences.
Just a reminder,
Dear heart,
You are allowed to be sad,
To be scared,
To be protective and distant.
You're allowed to be unsure.
Dear heart,
You're also allowed to be confident and joyful and playful.
Beloved heart,
You receive love.
You are allowed to receive love.
You are allowed to give love.
And how to go slow,
How to take your time,
How to say no.
Take a moment in the silence between song.
You can place your hands down or leave them where they are,
Just to notice if there's any energy,
Any feelings that feel more alive here.
Maybe my words brought something up for you.
That's okay.
Sometimes the first step in releasing is exploring and bringing awareness to what's real,
What's alive.
This is our last song.
You get to choose if you want to explore and sit with this denser energy or if you'd like to begin to release it.
If you'd like to release it,
My suggestion to you is first acknowledge it,
Perhaps share some gratitude with it.
And if it's ready to be let go,
You can use your breath to bring new energy in and imagine this energy coming up from your belly button,
Up your lungs,
Up your throat,
And gently being released into the air,
Being absorbed by the earth.
I'm going to stay quiet for the rest of the meditation and let you explore.
Let's take a deep breath here and land bodies in our seats.
Now maybe this meditation has helped you identify and release some stuck energy.
And also maybe this meditation has actually brought your awareness to energy and now it feels like there's more stuck energy.
And that's okay too.
