Good morning,
And welcome to The Artist's Morning.
My name's Darius,
And I'm so grateful that you and I get this time together.
Our practice today is intended to help you slow down,
Zoom out,
And remember just how powerful and creative you are.
Let's begin.
If your eyes are open,
I'd like to invite you to close them now as we begin to go inwards together.
Nice and slow.
Connecting with your body.
Connecting with any point on your body that's making contact with your seat,
With the floor,
And beginning to take longer,
Deeper breaths,
Allowing new,
Fresh energy in and letting go of old,
Stagnant energy with your exhales.
Giving yourself a moment to arrive here,
Now.
Here,
Now.
Welcome here.
Welcome now,
Dear artist.
Feeling the energy of this moment right in front of you.
Bringing your attention,
Your focus,
Your consciousness right here in front of you.
Now we're going to try something.
We're going to experiment and explore together.
We're going to take a deep breath in,
And as you do,
You're going to move your consciousness behind you.
Your consciousness,
Your awareness is going to step back and above you and be able to see your human sitting here in front of you.
Ready?
Deep breath in.
Bringing our consciousness back behind us,
Above us.
Breathing out.
And there is your human sitting in front of you.
Your consciousness is hovering above and behind your human now.
Above and behind your human.
What do you see?
When you look down at your human,
What do you see?
What do you see from this perspective?
There are no right or wrong answers,
Dear one.
Don't overthink it.
I promise you can't get this wrong.
I'll go first.
I see a man.
I see a father.
I see an artist.
I see a husband.
I see a human with a big giant heart.
What do you see?
Who is this character sitting in front of you?
In front of you.
Don't overthink it.
Maybe you have words.
Maybe you have feelings.
But you can acknowledge there is a character in front of you.
A being playing a role they've been cast for.
Connecting with the activities,
The drama,
The excitement,
The fear,
The ups and downs of this character.
Like all good characters,
They will go through many ups and downs.
Many different things.
Many different experiences.
You and your soul from this perspective are the actor.
And your human has been cast in a role they are playing a character.
Maybe this is preposterous to you.
Maybe this is starting to make a little bit of sense.
My human is playing a role.
They are a character in a grand theatrical production.
And my question to you,
Dear artist.
My question to you,
Dear actor.
Is there a different role you would like to play?
Is there a different character you'd like to try on?
What would it be like to play the role of an artist?
A writer.
A creator.
What could it be like to play the role of a speaker,
A leader,
A dancer,
A lover?
The universe is the great grand production company.
God is the director.
And there are an abundance of roles and characters available.
Before your time is up on this incredible planet,
Is there a role,
Is there a character you'd like to play even for a moment?
This first step is a bold,
Courageous step.
It requires we slow down,
Get quiet,
And listen to our hearts.
And to hear,
To acknowledge,
To claim that there is a longing,
There is a desire,
There's a creative element that wants to be manifest,
That wants a chance on this grand stage to play that role,
To be that character.
We can't control whether the audience claps or not,
But we can control whether we acknowledge this desire and take a courageous leap forward and say yes to that role of a lifetime.
This is our last song,
Dear artist.
I'm going to stay quiet and just let you explore what could be possible when we listen and acknowledge the desires in our hearts.
Bravo,
Dear artist.
Bravo,
Dear creator.
You made it to the end of another meditation,
And for that,
I'm so grateful.
For those that are joining us live at the artist morning,
I'm going to put 20 minutes on the clock and share a journaling prompt that's connected to our theme today and allow us to explore even deeper.
And if you're joining us on a replay,
Perhaps on insight timer,
Of course you can do the same.
Thank you once again for meditating with me.
My name is Darius,
And I will see you next time.
