Good morning and welcome to the artist's morning.
My name is Darius and today's meditation is going to be a bit different.
Today's meditation is going to be an activating active meditation.
And what that means is sometimes my meditations down regulate and sometimes my meditations have the potential to up regulate and awaken.
Awaken parts of you,
Awaken emotions in you.
Sometimes all of us need a wake up call.
If that does not sound appealing to you and you're looking for something more down regulating,
I'd suggest hitting the pause button now.
If you're ready for our journey,
Let's begin together.
Let's take a deep breath here and let's take a moment to land in our seats,
In our bodies,
In this moment.
And to start us off on this journey,
I have a question for you,
Dear artist.
Are you truly,
Are you,
You are more than your net people you care for,
Are more than a number,
Your salary,
More than your past relationship,
Your diagnosis,
Darkest moments,
Are more than a highlight reel,
Than a father or a mother,
You are more than a son or a daughter,
You are more than an artist.
If you are more than all these things,
Then who are you?
Maybe there is an answer and maybe this is an unanswerable question.
Maybe there's a feeling coming up in you and maybe it's a totally blank canvas.
The invitation is to sit with whatever is there.
There is a lot we accumulate in our lifetimes,
A lot we hold,
A lot we assume is true about who we are.
The invitation today is to test drive what it could be like it go.
What if stopped trying to control things that are uncontrollable?
What if you stop trying to do it all on your own?
What if you placed your energy in the only thing you can actually control?
Doing your best,
Being the most honest version of you.
What if no matter what your best was,
You could still find a way to love and celebrate yourself?
The artist's journey can be challenging.
The human journey towards self-expression can be challenging.
To go into the depths of your heart,
Find your truth,
And bring it into the world and say,
Dear world,
This is me,
This is the best of me,
This is the best I can do,
Can be an intimidating undertaking.
On that journey,
If your voice trembles,
If your body shakes,
If you are unsure,
That's okay.
That's okay.
Even if no one cares,
Even if no one comes,
Know that God is there,
God is watching,
God sees you,
God loves you.
Because you,
Dear artist,
Are so lovable.
Even if you resist what I just said,
You are still lovable.
Even in your darkest moments,
Even in the depths of your doubt,
Even when you are unable to speak,
Even when you can't even leave your bedroom,
You are so lovable.
Take a moment to notice how that feels in your body.
Maybe you receive,
Maybe you close down,
Maybe something totally different.
We have one last song today.
I'm going to stay quiet and let you explore and feel what's alive inside you.
Bravo,
Dear artist.
Bravo,
Dear creator.
I have a feeling maybe this was a more challenging meditation.
Maybe it stirred up some things inside you.
Maybe you received and opened your heart and maybe you were very resistant to it.
I firmly believe that wherever you landed on that spectrum,
There's something here for you to explore about yourself,
About who you truly are.
For those of us joining at the live artist morning,
I'm going to put 20 minutes on the clock and invite you to keep exploring who you truly are.
If you're catching us on a replay,
Perhaps on Insight Timer,
Of course you can do the same.
Put some time on the clock and dive deeper into your heart.
Thank you for meditating with me.
My name is Darius and I will see you next time.
