Wondrous Things,

Rainbows By Delana J.

Miller As a child,

I was fascinated with rainbows,

The promise of the pot of gold.

But which side held the treasure?

Was one person's end my beginning?

Do the colors narrow when they touch the ground?

I could spend its lifespan in wonder.

As an adult,

I find sacredness in rainbows.

Perspective deepens their intensity,

The beginning and the end.

They are the reward for looking up,

The arc of breath while grieving,

The awe of light bending into life's colorful moments,

Refractions.

This poem can be found in the poetry collection,

Paper Birds.
