And welcome.
If you're listening to this right now,
There's a chance.
That some part of you feels.
Exhausted.
But also feels guilty.
For resting.
Maybe you tell yourself.
All rest.
After I finish everything.
I haven't done enough yet.
I should be more productive or more productive.
I need to push through.
And if that sounds familiar,
I want you to hear something important.
You do not need to earn rest.
Rest is not a reward for burnout.
Rest is not something you deserve.
Only after exhaustion.
Rest is a human need.
But for many people,
Especially those who struggle with anxiety.
Perfectionism,
Trauma,
Or chronic stress.
Rest can actually feel uncomfortable.
Sometimes when we finally slow down.
Our nervous system gets louder.
The thoughts come rushing in.
The guilt shows up.
The tension becomes more noticeable.
And instead of feeling peaceful.
We feel restless.
A lot of people think this means they're bad at relaxing.
But often it simply means their nervous system has learned to associate stillness.
With vulnerability.
When you've spent years surviving.
Achieving.
Caretaking.
Over.
Thinking.
Staying emotionally alert.
Rest can feel unfamiliar.
Sometimes people even feel guilty sitting down for five minutes.
Not because they're lazy.
But because their nervous system has been trained to believe if I stop moving.
Something bad will happen.
If I rest,
I'm falling behind.
If I'm not productive,
I have less worth.
But your worth is not measured by your productivity.
You are allowed to pause.
You are allowed to breathe.
You are allowed to exist without constantly proving yourself.
And rest.
Does not always have to look perfect.
Sometimes rest is.
Taking a walk without your phone.
Sitting quietly for a few minutes.
Closing your eyes and breathing deeply.
Letting yourself say,
Not right now,
To something.
Drinking water slowly.
Taking a nap.
Listening to calming music.
Allowing your body to unclench.
Rest is not weakness.
In fact,
Rest is often what allows healing to happen.
Your nervous system needs moments of safety.
Not just moments of achievement.
And maybe today,
Instead of asking,
Have I done enough to deserve rest?
You are.
What does my mind and body need right now?
That question changes everything.
Because healing is not built through constant self-pressure.
Healing is built through balance.
Compassion.
Awareness and learning that you do not have to live in survival mode.
Forever.
So if nobody has told you lately.
You are allowed to rest.
Before burnout.
You are allowed to slow down without guilt.
You are allowed to care for yourself without earning it first.
And maybe today,
Rest can simply begin with one slow breath.
Thank you for being here today.
