In this talk, we look at a simple shortcut for self-compassion: shifting how you view your "fuel." You can treat your body like an old 80s truck, or you can treat yourself like a luxury Ferrari. From the water you drink and the sheets you sleep on to the people you let into your space, every choice is fuel. Learn why high-quality self-care isn't just for the wealthy; it’s a requirement for your health. When you give yourself the best, you stop just surviving and finally start to thrive.

Here's a shortcut to start practicing kindness to yourself.

Think of yourself like a car who you're constantly giving fuel to.

And fuel is people you find inspiring.

Fuel is the kind of water you drink.

Fuel is the kind of food you eat.

Fuel is how much sleep you get.

Fuel is whether you spend time in nature.

Fuel is whether you feel good in the clothes you wear,

The pajamas you wear,

The sheets you use,

Whether you say kind things to yourself or really mean things to yourself.

Those are all forms of fuel.

And you can treat your body like an 80s truck.

Like the truck that just carries weight from one place to the other.

And weight could be thinking you need to solve other people's problems.

Weight could be I am a workhorse and I'm just here to do this amount of work.

I'm not here to enjoy.

I'm only here to work.

Yes,

We're here to work hard.

I think it feels good to work at something you care about.

But if you think you're exclusively here to work and you're treating yourself like a truck,

Self-compassion is when you treat yourself like a mozzarelli.

Self-compassion is when you treat yourself like a Bentley or like the latest Ferrari.

You're going to give that Ferrari,

That Bentley,

That mozzarelli the best fuel possible.

You're going to pick the absolute best oil.

You're going to pick the best products to wash it with.

You're going to give it luxury treatment.

Think about giving yourself that same kind of fuel.

Don't drink tap water.

I recommend drinking water from a glass bottle.

And some people will say,

Elizabeth,

This is for the wealthy.

This is your health.

Tap water has hormones in it.

Talk to any specialist researcher.

Tap water is not that great for us in the US at least.

So think about the fuel you give yourself.

Do you spend time with people who don't treat you well?

That's fuel.

Do you read things that are inspiring to you?

Or do you just watch reality TV most of the time and things that mess with your nervous system and that give you those swings up and down?

If you really want to be self-compassionate,

Always treat yourself like you are the most luxury car and the things that go inside your heart,

Your body,

Your mind,

The things that touch your skin should be of the highest quality.

And that's when you can thrive.

And you do become that superstar Ferrari mozzarella.
