The most important thing you can do for your happiness and joy mental health is stop meeting anyone's expectations.
I want you to get that like sweet taste of the rebellious.
I was not rebellious for most of my life.
I was like very subversively rebellious but now I found the sweetness of not meeting expectations of other people that other people said and of doing the kinds of things that really really resonate with me and doing them my way.
So I've done many things that people said were completely crazy like I moved to New York City at age 25 with the plan to teach an eight-week compassion class in New York City.
People said Elizabeth like you're insane New Yorkers don't have time for an eight-week compassion class.
New Yorkers don't care about compassion and they were proved wrong.
My classes became super popular and within two months I was teaching at Comey Medical School,
Columbia Law School,
Tibet House,
Novartis,
NYU.
It spread and then I had this other plan of let me teach compassion in the law and then again so many people said it's impossible you're never going to make a life out of this you're never going to make a career out of this and it's been working and I love working with lawyers judges also with non-lawyers but I do a lot of this in the law.
I want to make the law compassionate.
I want the people in law to practice self-compassion.
This isn't to brag or show off really I just want you to know that the things that you imagine in your head this is why we don't use chat gpt for imagining and planning what's in your head what's in your heart if you can see it you can create it if it makes sense to you if it resonates for you you can do it and stop stop taking seriously the people who say things are impossible they're limited everything is possible the world itself screams possible all the time get your sleep eat your healthy food meditate and everything is possible when you have access to your full resources.
