Becoming a lifelong dieter.

Most of us are seasonal,

Short-term dieters.

We usually need a reason or an upcoming occasion to start one.

And once the reason or an upcoming occasion has come and gone,

There is no motivation to continue.

This short-term attitude allows things to take priority over the diet.

The focus is on the physical aspect of weight loss,

The pounds lost.

To the psychological aspect,

The need to change habits and attitudes completely ignored.

However,

The lifelong dieter approaches weight loss as a learning process that results in weight loss and then being able to maintain that loss.

The thought process of the dieter becomes intensified,

So there is a healthy self-involvement.

This encourages the type of concentrated motivation required to alter lifelong habits and attitudes that have promoted weight gain.

The calendar doesn't matter to this type of dieter.

This person lives and diets at the same time,

Not waiting until the diet is over to enjoy life.

The lifelong dieter incorporates favorite foods on occasion in moderate quantities into the eating program.

This dieter attends parties but plans for them,

So there is little or no anxiety involved.

Because this dieter is interested in lifelong weight management,

There is a refusal to give up when the going gets rough.

This person plans for the long term and doesn't get stuck in the moment.

Instead,

Approaching weight management is a lifelong habit that will ultimately provide the satisfaction of reaching goal weight and being able to maintain it.

New healthy and appropriate habits and attitudes replace the old unhealthy and weight gain promoting lifestyle.

Become a lifelong dieter and you'll be successful.
