Now just come to rest.
Take a few slow breaths and let your body become heavy with relaxation.
I want to say something to you before we begin today.
Something really important.
You are not your patterns.
You are not your loops.
The part of you that has kept you small,
Kept you back,
Kept you circling the same ground,
That part is not your enemy.
It is a protector that has been working very,
Very hard for a very long time.
Today we're going to meet it with compassion rather than frustration and in doing so we set you both free.
Imagine yourself walking across a wide sun-drenched meadow.
The grass is long and golden,
Wildflowers growing clusters,
Purple and white and yellow.
The sky above is vast and clear.
In the distance you can see a beautiful gate,
Tall,
Ornate,
Covered in climbing flowers.
You walk towards it.
As you approach the gate you can see through it,
Just beyond its light and beautiful and warm,
Golden light.
The life you know is waiting for you.
The version of yourself you know is possible.
The life you dream of is waiting for you.
The version of yourself you know is possible.
The meadow is peaceful where you are and the sun is warm on your skin.
Each step feels so good as you come closer to the gate.
And as you get there you notice a figure standing right at the gate.
At first the figure seems quite imposing but as you draw nearer you see the truth of it.
This is not an enemy,
This is a part of you.
Younger,
Frightened,
Exhausted from years of standing guard.
This is your inner guardian.
The protector who decided long ago that the safest thing was to keep you from going too far forward.
Because forward meant visible.
Visible meant judgeable.
And being judged in the story you learnt meant being rejected.
You stop in front of your inner guardian and you look at each other.
Instead of frustration,
Instead of the familiar rush of self-criticism,
You feel something quite unexpected.
Compassion,
Gentle sadness,
Love.
You reach out your hand and you say silently or aloud or simply in your heart,
I see you,
I know you have been trying to keep me safe,
I know you've been working so hard and I want you to know I'm not angry with you,
I understand.
Your guardian looks at you and something in their face has shifted.
The rigidity of years of guardianship are beginning to soften.
But I need to tell you something,
You continue.
What you've been protecting me from,
It isn't as dangerous as you thought.
In fact the only thing that truly frightens me now is staying here on this side of the gate when I know there's a far more magical reality on the other side.
Your guardian looks at you for a long moment and then slowly,
With a kind of exhaustive relief,
As if they've been waiting years for this permission,
They step aside.
They don't disappear,
They don't need to,
But they slowly transform.
And as they step back from the gate,
They become something different.
Not a blocker,
But a wonderful wise companion.
A witness,
An observer,
And they will walk beside you now,
Not ahead of you.
As you walk through the gate,
Into the beautiful reality and the golden light beyond it.
You feel the warmth and you feel complete.
You feel this is where I belong.
As you take those first steps into that reality,
You feel something profound shift in your body.
A physical releasing,
Like a fist unclenching,
Like a breath that you've been holding onto and finally let it go.
You look back at the gate now from the other side and you notice how it looks from here.
Not a barrier,
Just a passage.
Not a prison,
But a doorway.
It was always just a doorway.
Your guardian stands beside you,
Smiling.
And in that smile is every version of you that was too afraid to come this far.
Too afraid to go through that doorway.
All those versions of you,
All those memories are here now.
All stepping through to join you.
Standing in the golden light on this beautiful side of the gate,
You feel the sun on your face and you breathe it in.
And you say,
I now see my patterns with compassion,
Not shame.
I am not my loops and I choose differently now.
The gate is open and I walk through it anytime I like.
The meadow,
The gate,
The golden light.
Let it all settle gently into you as you begin your return.
Smell the air.
Absorb all the wonderful colors and sounds.
Take a slow,
Full breath in.
And a long,
Grateful breath out.
Feel your body now in the room where you began.
And know that something profound has deeply shifted.
Gently,
Whenever you feel ready,
Take another deep breath.
And open your eyes.
