Once upon a time,
A child just about your age was walking in a beautiful garden.
They liked to play statue,
So as they walked,
They stopped in a part of the garden where there was a stream.
As they stood beside the stream,
They pretended they were a statue.
Can you imagine what kind of statue you would be?
The child stood so still that the birds and animals really thought they were seeing a statue.
They weren't afraid,
So they came closer and continued to fly and play all around.
Very often,
When it was time to sleep or have a nap,
The child would play statue again while lying down to see how long they could stay still without moving.
Well now,
After all this walking and playing in the garden,
The child was tired and decided to lay down and play statue in the soft grass.
But before the child could see how long they could stay still like a statue,
They had to get any last wiggles and jiggles out.
Do you have any wiggles and jiggles that your body wants to move before you see how long you can stay still like a statue?
The child lay very still,
Listening to the stream and the sounds in the garden.
Do you hear them too?
And what's this flying by?
The child noticed the most beautiful dragonfly flying all around.
Its colors were shimmering in the light.
Where did it come from?
The child took a deep breath in and slowly let the breath go.
Can you do that too?
As the child carefully watched the dragonfly,
Another deep breath in and another.
The child decided to send it three kind thoughts.
Can you think of three kind thoughts to send to the dragonfly?
What would they be?
And what's this?
It must be a magical dragonfly because there on its back was a tiny fairy.
It must be as light as a feather to ride on a dragonfly.
Somehow the child just knew that the dragonfly and the fairy wanted to be friends.
The dragonfly softly landed on the child's shoulder.
It was so beautiful and it was as light as a feather too.
Can you imagine it on your shoulder?
It flew to the elbow,
The wrist,
And the back of the hand.
The fairy magically flew off and with a magic wand touched the child's thumb.
It skipped to the next finger,
And the next finger,
And the next finger,
And finally the little finger.
It flew back onto the dragonfly's back and together landed back on the wrist,
The elbow,
The shoulder.
Then it flew to the other shoulder.
It flew to the elbow,
The wrist,
The back of the hand.
With its magic wand the fairy touched the child's thumb.
It skipped to the next finger,
And the next finger,
And the next finger,
And finally the little finger.
Once again it flew back onto the dragonfly's back and together they landed back on the wrist,
The elbow,
And the shoulder.
The dragonfly flew just high enough that the child could see its beautiful color shimmering and can dragonflies smile?
It looked like a smile.
It gently landed on the heart center in the center of the chest.
It stayed there for a moment radiating love and kindness into the child's heart.
It flew into the air again and landed on the child's hip,
The knee,
The ankle,
The top of the foot.
The fairy lightly jumped off and tapped the big toe with the wand,
And the next toe,
And the next one,
And the next one,
And the baby toe.
It flew back onto the dragonfly's back and they moved to the ankle,
The knee,
The hip.
Then they wanted to visit the other side so they flew to the other hip,
The knee,
The ankle,
The top of the foot.
Once again the fairy jumped off and touched the big toe with the wand,
And the next toe,
And the next one,
And the next one,
And finally the baby toe.
I think the fairy likes fingers and toes,
Don't you?
It flew back onto the dragonfly's back and it moved to the ankle,
The knee,
The hip.
Up into the air it flew.
It landed on the child's heart center and magically sent love,
Kindness,
And happiness to the child's heart.
But it wasn't quite finished yet.
Together the dragonfly and fairy flew right up and landed on one ear.
The fairy whispered something special into the child's ear.
Can you imagine what message the fairy gave?
Then they flew to the other ear and the fairy whispered again.
They flew above the child and hovered there.
From its magic wand the fairy sent magic glitter that only touched the tip of the child's nose.
It would help the child smell good smells.
It sent magic glitter to one eye,
The other eye.
The magic glitter would help the child see how magical the world can be.
The fairy sent magic glitter to the lips.
It would help them speak kind words.
And then the fairy's wand sent magic glitter to the forehead.
It would help the child remember the love,
Kindness,
And happiness that the dragonfly had sent to its heart.
The fairy on the dragonfly's back held the wand in the air and moved it in big circles.
More dragonflies came.
They were friends.
The child imagined flying on a dragonfly's back just like the fairy.
Can you imagine what that would be like?
They flew side by side,
Swooping and soaring,
Looking down at the garden.
Then they landed on a big rock beside the stream.
They were as still as could be.
They could see that all of the other dragonflies had landed too.
And when the fairy raised its arm and held the wand in the air,
All of the dragonflies flew up into the air.
Once again,
The child was flying in the air too.
The garden looked so beautiful from above.
It felt safe and warm and lovely on the dragonfly's back.
And then ever so gently,
They landed again,
Right where the child was laying as still as a statue.
All of the dragonflies flew away except for the first dragonfly with the fairy on its back.
Because the child had remained so still,
The dragonfly and fairy had come to visit,
And now they were friends.
The child remembered the three kind thoughts it had sent to the dragonfly before knowing it was a magic dragonfly with a fairy on its back.
Do you think the child's kind thoughts helped the dragonfly show its magic?
Now it sent both the dragonfly and the fairy its kind thoughts.
Before leaving,
The dragonfly and fairy decided they wanted to send the child the kind thoughts too.
They had such fun together.
With a whoosh of the wand sending glitter and fairy dust floating down to the child,
They said,
May you be happy.
With another swoosh,
May you be well.
They sent another sprinkle of fairy dust.
May you have kindness.
And with one last swoosh of the wand,
May you have a loving heart.
The child watched the dragonfly and fairy fly away until they could no longer be seen.
I hope you come again someday.
Thank you for visiting me.
The child was happy and content,
And continued to lay on the soft grass,
But now was oh so tired,
And sleep came.
And the child had beautiful dreams of the dragonflies with fairies on its back.
