Hello and welcome in to the sacred space,
Or what I should say is welcome home.
My daughter recently and she's having a meltdown and she's kind of losing her mind,
Losing control over her body,
Having a tantrum.
She'll just say over and over again,
I want to go home,
I want to go home,
I want to go home,
And I often reply we are home.
But I know that she is talking about a different home,
A different place,
A place in our body where we feel ourselves almost connected,
A place where we don't feel suffering,
We don't feel overwhelmed by life,
Where we just feel at peace.
So I have this image of my daughter saying,
I want to go home,
And I think about the times in my life and in certain situations when I too want to go home.
It's easier as an adult to kind of distract,
Reflect,
Numb those feelings.
But once you really awaken and sit with yourself in moments of stillness and quiet,
You come to learn that you too are longing to go home.
So let's begin our practice taking a deep,
Slow breath in through the nose and exhaling out through the mouth.
Closing down the eyes.
Start to become aware the breath is flowing through your body.
Begin to notice your heart beating,
Your chest.
Maybe notice the warmth,
The blood pumping through your veins.
This is home.
You don't need much.
It's not a place.
It's not a person.
It's a meeting.
A simple,
Quiet meeting.
All the parts of yourself melt together.
Take another breath in.
If you notice here,
Feelings arise.
Desires.
Be true to only you.
You can sit in silence.
What's this?
Breathing in and out.
Is it freedom you're seeking?
Is it certainty?
Is it hope?
What you call a crisis might be someone else's awakening 10,
000 lifetimes in the making.
Your awakening,
My love,
Might even be your own.
And what you call care might be dangerous disruption of an ecosystem of unimaginable delicacy.
How hard that person's soul might have fought its way through the cosmos for millions of ages to finally arrive here on the final precipice of egoic collapse.
How close they might be at last to freedom.
All they have to do now is shatter.
Maybe stand back.
Maybe let it happen.
Go easy,
My love.
Go forth.
Go home.
