Allowing enoughness.
What is enough?
Not so little that you feel that you are lacking.
Not so much that you feel you have to strive.
What is that sweet spot where you have everything you've wanted and you know it.
For you can have it all and never be fulfilled.
And you can have little and feel like the richest one around.
How do you measure what is enough in your life?
When you've done enough in one day.
When you've given enough of yourself.
When you've bent enough to the will of other people.
When you've said yes enough.
When you've said no enough.
When you've strived to make everything you've wanted come true enough.
When you've earned enough.
When you've eaten enough.
When you've listened to enough news.
When you've read enough new ideas.
Can you get enough?
Where are your desires coming from?
What is driving you?
What part of you wants what you want?
Who is behind the wheel?
When we go and go and go and never slow,
We are feeding our hunger instead of our satisfaction.
It is great to be hungry.
Hunger fuels us.
But do not starve yourself.
It is great to be full.
Not so full that you are uncomfortable and unhappy.
But so full that your cup overflows,
Filling that of others,
Lighting up the world around you.
Think of something that you really want or have been wanting.
How does it feel to think of it?
How do you feel toward this desire?
Do you have one that comes to mind or do you feel blank about what you want?
If one comes to mind,
Do you feel joyful to feel this desire,
To feel its presence,
To know that it is on its way?
Do you trust that it will arrive?
Do you perceive this desire as a holy,
Delicious yearning?
Or does it bring up anxiety,
Fear,
A sense of lack,
A fear that you will never get this thing,
A feeling of dissonance that it is so far away?
None of it is right or wrong.
Your emptiness toward your desire,
If you come up blank,
Is okay.
Your anxiety around desire that's not here yet is what it is.
And your delight in the anticipation eagerly awaiting the fruition of this dream is also beautiful.
What if you are exactly where you need to be in relation to your desire and as you are in this moment?
What if this moment and you as you are is enough?
How would you feel to be enough in the world,
For the world,
For yourself,
To yourself,
To others?
There's no one else you have to become to be worthy of love.
There's nothing else you have to do to earn it.
Start with your own love.
Can you give yourself permission to love who and how you are right now without changing a thing?
What if everything you do and say and are and become and act on would emanate from who you are,
Would unfold from who you're being?
What if your becoming was a beautiful,
Unraveling,
Unfurling expression of the joy of now rather than this far away goal that you had to measure up to or strive to earn or try to force yourself into being?
What if there's no force necessary,
No efforting required?
What if the biggest effort you have to make is to feel effortless,
To feel ease,
To dispel the dis-ease by appreciating and embracing the truth of right here,
Right now,
Of you,
Of your wholeness?
It is easy to be you.
A Chinese proverb says,
Tension is who you think you should be.
Relaxation is who you are.
Tension is who you think you should be.
Relaxation is who you are.
You are relaxation.
You relax when you are who you are,
When you do not resist,
When you do not try to be who you think you should be,
Or who your family thinks you should be,
Or who your partner thinks you should be,
Or who your own self and part of you that's driving so hard thinks you should be.
Relinquish the shoulds.
Dare to let today be enough.
Because when you don't feel like you are enough,
Then nothing else feels like it's enough,
And no one else feels like they're enough.
The lack of feeling full permeates all your relationships,
Permeates how you relate to things you want,
To things you have.
So imagine now that before you is an enormous cornucopia,
A huge,
Vast,
Woven,
Beautiful structure containing every gift,
Figurative,
Literal,
Material,
Emotional,
That you've ever received in the past,
That you have at your disposal,
At your fingertips now in the present,
And that you will receive in all your days to come in the future.
These are basic things that are not so basic,
Waters of life,
Shelter,
Touch,
Love,
People that you care about,
Relationships you've had with them,
Opportunities you've been given or made for yourself and been able to experience,
Places you've seen and traveled to in the world or even in your imagination that have lit you up.
They are things about yourself that you love,
Personality traits that are your unique gifts.
Past,
Present,
Future,
See each of these things and people and places and experiences and gratitudes in this cornucopia filling to the brim,
And then go up to it and see it all and know it has your name on it.
Can you receive,
Can you open each one,
Unwrapping it like a gift,
A gift meant for you?
If you're going too fast,
You'll miss it,
You'll miss these.
Even though they're right there,
You won't see them and you won't feel them.
So take this time to review these gifts,
Take them in,
Appreciate them for what you appreciate,
Appreciates.
You can take them all in,
Opening your palms,
Stretching your arms wide,
Embracing all of these,
The essence of each of these gifts,
Or you can touch them one by one with your fingers,
Put them to your heart,
Say,
Yes,
Thank you more,
Please.
Yes,
Thank you more,
Please.
And let your appreciation of what is be the momentum to propel you into the next now,
Into the next moment of beauty.
And when you filled up your cup with all of these gifts,
Take a moment to breathe them in,
In through the nose,
Out through the mouth with a slight smile.
And let the image of the cornucopia and the gifts slowly dissipate as you are now left with yourself again.
But feel,
Tune in,
How are you now?
Having taken this time to bask and savor these blessings.
And from this place of grounded,
Beautiful,
Caring fulfillment,
Listen,
What do you long for from here?
What's calling you?
Where are you being summoned?
Will you follow?
Allow yourself to take time to listen to the truth of what the deepest part of you wants.
And the highest part of you is capable of experiencing,
Receiving and giving.
And connect with yourself,
With those you love,
And with the source and force that moves life through you,
Allowing you to love.
