Hi it's Jordana here and I know that right now is a time in the world where things feel like a lot.
Personally I try to shield myself from the news as much as I can but it gets through the nooks and crannies and it can be hard to stay steady.
So let's start by getting comfortable.
Sit in a way that feels supportive for you.
Your feet can be on the floor,
Your hands resting somewhere easy,
Nothing fancy,
Just comfortable.
You can close your eyes if you like and take a slow breath in through the nose and let it go out the mouth.
And again breathing in through the nose as you exhale releasing external noise,
Coming into your seat,
Coming into this time and practice.
One more like that in through the nose.
Exhale,
Release it out and then let your breath settle into its own rhythm.
And bring your attention to the simple fact that you're supported here by the chair,
Your bed,
The floor,
By the earth under the building that you're in.
You can feel the connection points between your body and what supports you physically.
So even when life feels chaotic this earth is still here supporting you.
And right now in this moment you're breathing.
You made it here and honestly that counts for a lot.
It's not a secret that the world feels intense lately.
Things are loud,
Things are changing.
There's war,
There's famine,
There's political unrest and everyone has an opinion.
Sometimes it can feel like you're getting pulled into the storm.
But here's an important thing to remember.
Just because there's a storm on the surface it doesn't mean everything underneath is unstable.
It's like how the ocean can be wild at the top,
Choppy and wave after wave.
But if you dive down beneath the surface,
If you ever go scuba diving,
And inside you if you go deep there's a place like that too.
It's a place that knows how to breathe no matter what is going on around you.
Bring your attention back to your breath maybe place a hand on your abdomen feeling that deep place that knows how to breathe feeling the rise of the inhale and the fall of your exhale.
Let your shoulders drop a little your jaw soften and let your nervous system take a break from trying to solve the entire world.
Right now,
Even if just for right now your job is simple just be here with this breath and this next one.
Now imagine that there are roots growing gently from the soles of your feet or maybe from the base of your spine and it's rooting down into the earth and you are like a tree that has seen many storms in its lifetime with your roots deep your branches might move in the wind but the roots know exactly what they're doing and so do you you are more grounded than your mind gives you credit for and more resilient too you might silently say to yourself I can meet this moment I don't need all the answers today let those words land inside you and see if you can notice any expansiveness maybe at your brow maybe this space within you maybe it becomes easier to breathe this is the most powerful thing you can do your calm matters your groundedness matters you are like a pillar of calm in the storm and the way you move through the world it affects more people than you realize you might take a moment to place a hand on your heart and one on your belly just to feel your sincerity your resilience perhaps a sense of inner peace and when we find even a little peace inside ourselves it doesn't just stay there we have the ability to help it move outward to circulate so take a slow breath in and imagine a soft light at the center of your chest and with the next breath let that light grow a little brighter as you exhale imagine it expanding just beyond your body filling the space around you calm,
Steady and kind and now imagine that light moving even further out into your neighborhood into the places where people might be feeling overwhelmed or scared without forcing anything just holding the intention may those who are struggling feel supported may those who are afraid find calm may those who feel lost remember their inner strength I'd like you to imagine that this circle of light can go even further across communities across countries across the whole planet believe it or not moments like this matter a calm mind a steady heart even if just for a glimpse in this meditation even a little more compassion in the system it all counts it adds up and it cannot be lost so take one more slow breath in and gently let it go feel the light settle back into your heart and know that it's always there whenever you need it so please take this steadiness with you because even when the world feels messy you can be the first to show up grounded,
Clear and open-hearted it truly makes a world of a difference
