For this meditation,
I'm going to invite you to lie down and get really comfortable.
Close your eyes.
We'll take three breaths.
Breathe in all the way.
And let the breath go.
Two more.
Breath in.
And let it go.
One more.
Breath in.
Imagine that you are walking along a path through a thick forest.
Beautiful flowers line the path and you see the bees and the butterflies that buzz around them.
You can hear the birds in the trees.
And you can see the light of the sun beam down between the canopy.
And as you walk,
You notice that you are approaching a clearing.
A perfect circle of trees on perfectly manicured grass.
The sun beams down into this space and you notice in the very center there is a fire.
You walk towards that fire,
Noticing the grass beneath your feet as you walk.
You look towards the fire and you notice that there is somebody standing by the fire.
You notice as you approach that it is an older version of you.
This version of you may be a little bit grayer,
A few more lines around the eyes.
But they look at you with a knowing smile.
You notice how safe you feel in their presence.
You notice how much you've grown,
How much you've changed.
You reach out for a hug and they embrace you.
You stand for a moment in the arms of your older self.
They have something that they wish to share with you.
And as you release from the embrace,
They start to speak.
What do they say?
Now you have a question for them.
Ask now.
And what do they say?
Your older self has a gift for you.
You hold out your hands and close your eyes like you did as a child.
And they place this item in your hands.
And as you open your eyes and look down at this item,
What do you see?
This gift is a symbol of their love.
Your remembering and knowing that they will always be there for you.
They are always there for you.
So you take this item and you place the item in your heart,
Knowing that you can always retrieve it.
You have one final question to ask your higher self.
Ask it now.
You reach out for one more final hug.
They wrap their arms around you.
You rest your body against theirs.
And slowly,
Slowly,
Your older self begins to dissolve into you.
And you become one.
For they are you already.
Take a long,
Slow,
Deep breath in through your nose.
Let it go.
Sigh it out now.
Begin to notice the space around you once again.
Notice the earth that you're lying on,
The temperature of the air,
The rise and the fall of your breath as you breathe.
Starting to make little movements now,
Moving your hands,
Your toes.
You might like to stretch,
Reach your arms up and over your head.
And then bring your knees to your chest and give yourself a squeeze.
And then spread yourself out one more time with your hands on your heart and set an intention,
An intention based on what you learned.
Take one more breath.
Sigh it out.
