This meditation is based on a reading from Lauren Roche's The Radiant Sutras,
An interpretation of Sutra 96 of the Vijñāna Bhārāva Tantra.
When the unforgettable calls you,
The memory of something noble,
Generous,
Inspiring,
Accept the gift,
Savor every detail.
The beauty we admire is a visitation from another moment,
Infusing body and heart.
Memory transports us beyond time and space into the living presence of wonder.
So let's come sitting comfortably or come lying down.
Breathing deeply with our eyes closed,
Let's allow all of our attention to be within.
Now let's imagine that we're driving along the road,
It's a beautiful sunny day,
And then suddenly a little voice inside you says,
Ooh,
Let's stop the car here.
You pull the car over into a little parking spot and there's a little opening in the woods beside the car.
And you get out and you walk down to the opening into the woods.
And this lovely feeling starts to fill your heart like there's something there for you.
So you begin to wander through the woods and there's sunlight streaming through the branches.
You can feel your breath relaxing.
You can smell the trees,
The ground,
The water.
And as you walk,
You can feel your back relaxing.
All the tensions seem to be left out there somewhere.
And then as you keep walking,
You see an opening in the woods and there's this lovely green meadow.
And as you walk into the green meadow,
The warmth of the sun touches your face.
And as you breathe deeply,
You lower yourself down to the earth and lie down on the grass.
With your arms stretched out,
You can feel the sun nourishing your whole body.
And you breathe a little bit deeper.
And then a memory comes to you,
A memory of when you felt real joy.
And just sinking into that feeling,
Not even worrying about the details.
Allowing your whole inside to feel what you're feeling right now.
Allowing your breath to be deeper.
Drawing the energy of that memory into your whole body.
This beautiful resonance of peace,
Of joy,
Flowing through your bloodstream,
Down to your toes,
Down to your fingers,
Through your face.
Returning to this memory if thoughts go elsewhere.
And imagining,
Reorienting your life around this feeling.
Imagine this is what it feels like to be human.
This is the center.
And as we breathe,
It's like the aura of that feeling expands a little bit.
With every breath,
This memory becomes a little bit more alive,
The essence of it.
And you feel that aura expanding even beyond your body.
You can feel it breathing,
Feel it alive.
It's floating in that feeling when the unforgettable calls you.
The memory of something noble,
Generous,
Inspiring.
Accept the gift.
Savor every detail.
The beauty we admire is a visitation from another moment,
Infusing body and heart.
Memory transports us beyond time and space into the living presence of wonder.
Imagine this feeling being the foundation of all that we did.
To hold this memory when we meditate,
When we practice yoga,
When we walk along the beach,
When we hug a friend.
So within our inner vision,
Lying in this beautiful grassy spot,
Wrap your arms around yourself,
Holding this wonderful memory inside this feeling of a full heart.
And just breathe it within you.
Really immersing yourself in that love.
And in your vision,
Gently open your eyes,
Just come rolling up to sitting and looking around your inner vision at the world you see.
And then let's come back together.
I hope you have a wonderful day.
Namaste.
