Ah,
You've been here for a while now,
Haven't you?
Closed off,
Trapped.
Possibility is impossible.
Maybe you've succumbed to it so deeply that you no longer imagine.
Everything in you misses those daydreams.
But disappointments have been heavy.
So you tune out the longings of your heart,
Accepting this life that isn't the one you would choose.
I don't know where you are,
Or where you've been,
Or where you might like to be,
But could I offer you a new way to see things?
See how it might feel to believe these words,
Just try them on for size.
What if we aren't supposed to just settle in and make the best of things?
But instead,
Maybe we're meant to listen to that wild ache in our heart who longs for the very best things.
With the tiniest bit of light shining through a crack in the wall,
Sometimes a glimmer of hope is all you need to know.
Another life is possible.
But there are roadblocks,
Aren't there?
Too much,
Too hard,
Too far.
Sure.
You can see those.
But do you see how they've kept you from even listening?
Why should they be allowed to cut you off from yourself?
Do you think maybe you could see them but choose to listen anyway?
Listen to the longings of your own wild heart,
Who so very wants to be heard,
Honored,
And nurtured.
Don't worry.
No sudden changes will be needed.
We're only listening.
If you think you're ready to try,
We could do that together now.
Settle into a comfortable position where you can be fully present in your body.
Listen to notice your breath and let the feeling of being breathed with each inhale and exhale cause a gentle rise and fall in your belly.
Imagine now that there's a space in your heart.
It could be anything you like,
A natural landscape,
A cozy fireside room,
A place you have been,
Or a place that is new.
It should feel like a space that sustains and restores you.
Whatever is coming to mind will work just fine.
With each inhale,
Allow the image of it to brighten and sharpen in your mind's eye.
Let's prepare to go there now.
This process will involve three long,
Slow,
Intentional breaths with periods of regular breathing in between.
Before this first breath,
Set the intention to enter that space in your heart.
Breathe deeply now and as you exhale,
Find yourself in your heart.
Take a moment to feel yourself fully there.
And when you take this second breath,
Set the intention to meet with the one who is in your heart.
You may call it your soul,
Or love,
Or your truth,
Or something else.
You'll meet with them to listen to their longings.
These may be expressed as words,
Images,
Feelings,
Or something else.
Stay open.
Now inhale slowly and exhale slowly.
The dweller of your heart is here now.
Listen to their longings.
With each inhale,
Allow the image of it to brighten and sharpen in your mind's eye.
And now,
Thank the one who was in your heart for sharing with you.
And invite them to join you for a visit,
To see the view from your eyes.
Before the third breath,
Set the intention to carry the one who was in your heart up with you into your eyes.
Take that deep breath now.
And when you're ready,
Allow your eyes to gently flutter open.
You are now seeing the world with the eyes of your heart.
And maybe you'll feel a little less stuck and a little more hopeful.
Whatever the feeling,
Just enjoy that.
